Kon’nichiwa, Ogenki desu ka?

Alright then, off to the end of the tour, to Tokyo, Japan…Our expectations were high, unfortunately we got a bit disappointed right from the start, because Japan is known as a country where everything from top to bottom is organized according to a metronome and you won’t have to spent any thoughts, if everything goes fine, but this time, it came different…I don’t want to pick on the promoter now, respectively the people that were in charge, because I think that they did everything they possibly could and tried to do everything right, so don’t get that wrong!!!

Arrived in the morning and completely fucked up again, we were looking forward to the hotel and a bit of sleep before the usual procedure would start, but that wasn’t possible, as the check-in time at the hotel was 4pm, too bad, too bad…unfortunately our responsible persons didn’t have an alternative plan and thought, we might hang around somewhere till the soundcheck (3pm), at that time the clock showed 7 in the morning, we resigned thankfully and asked them to think of some place where we could stay for a bit to relax…this took until about 11am and the resolution of the problem looked this way, we were brought to the mother of Akira, who worked at our label company in Japan earlier, and where we could sleep on the floor (Japan style) for a while…The mother was super cool and we still really appreciate her hospitality!!! After a little time of recreation we went to the club, to do the soundcheck…unfortunately we were dissapointed there again, everything  was a bit untypical there, too, we had the impression, as if almost anything there was organized, it started with the fact that the club was closed when we arrived there, they didn’t have anything to drink, anything to eat…this might sound spoilt to you, but physical exertion, insomnia and generally stress aren’t necessary the best factors for this kind of circumstances and like said, I don’t want to have a go on somebody, it was all just a bit too much right then…

After a while everyone got 1 bottle of water and a bit later, with a bit of pressure, something to eat…then we could manage to do the soundcheck and the next station was named HOTEL. Chilling and calming down properly…the show later was great, the people really rocked the place and gave everything, arigato gozaimasu!!!
After the show it was time for a snack and a good night beer, more wasn’t possible in our condition.

The next day started quite early already, the soundcheck was scheduled for 11am, as the Bloodaxe festival began at 1pm…after the soundcheck we took a small trip through the city and had a look at a few things being typical for Japan, like the cross Shibuya, where an endless amount of people are dashing over throughout the day, or the gamehalls, where you need earmuffs to avoid permanent damage to your ears, and sunglasses to avoid blindness through all the colours, unbelievable what’s going on there…

Later on we went back to the hotel again, to grab the live stuff and get ready for the show…
Club, sold out with approx. 600 people and everybody in a good mood, that’s what we like to see. To that effect that’s the way the show was, for me, another highlight of the tour, the vibe was terrific and the people were just about the limit, arigato gozaimasu, arigato gozaimasu, arigato gozaimasu!!!!!!!!!!
Unfortunately, we had to find out during the evening, that this should be the last show of the tour, due to new facts that raised up, that made it organizationally impossible to catch our flights back home on the next day (a bit more on that on our homepage)…after the announcement everybody was gutted and also pissed, what was very comprehensible, we would have loved to play the show in Osaka, too!!!

I also hope that we will get a chance to perform a substitutional show soon, Gomen’nasai Osaka!!!
I won’t elaborate here, as we spent enough time to think over and over how to make it possible to let the show take place nonetheless, but without any success…

Hence, our mood was on the ground, it also meant to spent even more money that we don’t have, PUKE…a positive thing though, we had another day in Tokyo to see a bit more…we spent the time to drive to Akihabara, to experience a train-ride in Japan and to see the electro city pure…we collected many impressions and got soaked to the skin…we all did buy ourselves an umbrella, which they have at every corner in Japan…I have never seen this many umbrellas in use before like there, stunning…

The last evening was finished with going out to dinner and a farewell beer, we had to get out at 5am on the next day….

The flight back was practically the last obstacle and was almost prevented by a defect airplane, where our spirit went to the bottom again, like you can imagine…you’re flying about 12 times and everything goes alright, then everything you want is to get back home and then things like this happen…we had to take a stop in Paris, before we would continue to Düsseldorf. When we were on the plane shortly after the alarm went off, with the signal “Evacuation”!!! Everybody off the plane, why? The cockpit was in flames, outside havoc and a huge armada of firefighters that were there immediately. This of course meant waiting again, perplexity and uncertainty how this evening would go on. Pretty fast we received the message that everybody was brought home by a different machine, which also meant, that we had to wait another 3 hours. This summs up to a 6-hour stay, GREAT!!! and our beloved ones had to be patient for a little longer at the airport in Düsseldorf, to finally have us back. But as you can see, we are still alive and what the heck, by now we all arrived at home and I’m writing my last words from homeland…Home sweet home…

This was it now, with the Asian Tour, all in all it was one of the most exhausting tours we did in years and we realized a few things that have to change in the future, I’m just talking about the organization here, not the shows, they all were about the limit…

I want to say thank you, to all people that have been to the shows and supported us, and gave us all the energy and sweat…you have all been amazing, THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU!!!

Also dann, auf zum Ende der Tour, auf nach Tokyo Japan…Die
Erwartungen waren groß und wurden leider direkt schon zum Anfang ein
wenig enttäuscht, denn Japan kannte man bislang nur als das Land wo
alles von Vorne bis Hinten metronomgenau abläuft und man sich so mal
überhaupt keine Gedanken machen muß, ob alles läuft, aber diesmal war
alles anders…ich möchte jetzt nicht groß auf den Promoter rumhacken, bzw
die Leute die das hier aufgezogen haben, denn ich glaube das Sie im
Rahmen Ihrer möglichkeiten alles getan und versucht haben alles gut zu
machen, also nicht falsch Verstehen!!!
Morgens angekommen und mal wieder total Zerstört, freuten wir uns
erstmal auf´s Hotel und ein wenig Schlaf bevor der übliche Ablauf startet,
aber das ging dann schon nicht, weil die Check In Zeit im Hotel erst um
16Uhr war, schade schade schade…leider hatten unsere Verantwortlichen
aber auch keinen alternativ Plan und haben sich gedacht, das wir erstmal
bis zum Sondcheck (15Uhr) durch die Gegend gondeln, zu dem Zeitpunkt
war es 7.00Uhr morgens, wir haben also dankend Abgelehnt und Sie drum
gebeten sich was einfallen zu lassen, damit man irgendwo ein bißchen
runter kommen konnte…Das hat dann bis ca 11Uhr gedauert und die
Lösung des Problems sah so aus, das wir zu der Mutter von Akira gefahren
sind, der früher mal bei unserem alten Label in Japan gearbeitet hat und wir
dort auf dem Boden (Japan Style) etwas schlafen konnten…Die Mutter war
super Cool drauf und wir sind Ihr immer noch sehr Dankbar für Ihre
Gastfreundschaft!!! Nach ein wenig Zeit der Rekreation ging es dann zum
Club, um den Soundcheck zu machen…Leider wurde man dort dann auch
schon wieder ein wenig Enttäuscht, da auch dort alles ein bißchen
untypisch war, es kam einem vor, als wenn so gut wie nichts Organisiert
war, das fing damit an, das der Club noch zu war als wir dort ankamen, es
gab nichts zu Trinken, nichts zu Essen…das hört sich jetzt vielleicht für euch
nach Anstellerei an, aber körperliche Erschöpfung, Schlaflosigkeit und
allgemein Stress sind nicht unbedingt die besten Rezeptoren für solche
Umstände und wie gesagt, ich will hier niemanden runter machen, es war
nur halt gerad alles etwas zu viel…

Nach einiger Zeit kam dann auch für jeden 1 Flasche Wasser und noch
etwas später mit viel Nachdruck, etwas zu Essen…danach konnte dann
Soundcheck gemacht werden und die nächste Station hieß dann endlich
erstmal HOTEL
Chillen und mal richtig Runter kommen…die Show später war dann Super,
die Leute haben gerockt und alles gegeben, arigatō gozaimasu!!!
Nach der Show gab´s dann noch nen Snack und ein gute Nacht Bier, mehr
war bei uns nicht mehr zu holen.
Der nächste Tag fing dann auch schon recht früh an, da der Soundcheck
schon für 11Uhr angesetzt war, weil das Bloodaxe Festival um 13Uhr los
ging…nach dem Soundcheck haben wir ne kleine Runde durch die Stadt
gemacht und uns ein paar Japan Typische sachen angeschaut, wie z.b. die
Kreuzung in Shibuya, wo endlos viele Menschen am Tag drüber rasen, oder
auch die Spielhallen, wo man Ohrenschützer braucht um auf dauer nicht
Taub zu werden, bzw ne Sonnenbrille um vor lauter Farben nicht Blind zu
werden, unglaublich was da los ist…

danach gings dann noch mal zum
Hotel, die Live sachen holen und für die Show fertig machen…
Club, ausverkauft mit ca 600 Leuten und alle super drauf, das sieht man
doch sehr gern Dementsprechend war dann auch die Show, für mich ein
weiteres Highlight auf der Tour, die Stimmung war grandios und die Leute
waren mehr als Geil, arigatō gozaimasu, arigatō gozaimasu, arigatō
gozaimasu!!!!!!!!!! Leider hat sich im Laufe des Abends herraus gestellt,
dass diese Show auch Gleichzeitig die Letzte der Tour sein wird, da sich
neue Fakten aufgetan haben, die es Organisatorisch nicht zugelassen
hätten, dass wir am nächsten Tag nach der Show unseren Flug nach Haus
bekommen hätten (ein bißchen mehr dazu steht auf unserer Seite)…nach der
Ansage waren alle Leute sehr geknickt und auch pissed, was ja auch sehr
verständlich war, wir hätten die Show in Osaka auch sehr gern gespielt!!!
Ich hoffe also drauf, dass man schnell die Möglichkeit bekommt eine ersatz
Show zu spielen, Gomen’nasai Osaka!!!
Ich werd hier nicht auf irgendwelche Details eingehen, da man genug Zeit
damit verbracht hat sich den ganzen Abend und die halbe Nacht damit den
Kopf zu zerbrechen, um doch vielleicht noch ne Möglichkeit zu finden die
Show stattfinden zu lassen, leider ohne Erfolg…
Dementsprechend war dann die Laune bei uns auch im Keller, da es für uns
unteranderem auch hieß noch mehr Geld was wir nicht haben auszugeben,
KOTZ…das Positive war, dass wir noch ein Tag mehr in Tokyo hatten um
noch ein wenig was zu sehen…wir haben die Zeit damit genutzt nach
Akihabara zu fahren, um mal das Bahnfahren in Japan mitgemacht zu
haben und um die Elektro Stadt pur zu sehen…sehr viel Eindrücke gemacht
und klatsch nass geworden…haben uns dann aber später alle noch nen
Regenschirm gekauft, den es in Japan an jeder Ecke gibt…ich hab noch nie so
viele Regenschirme im Einsatz gesehen wie dort, krass…

schlechtes beispiel, das mal 1000, dann kommt´s hin
Der letzte Abend wurde dann mit Essen gehen und nem Abschlussbierchen
beendet, da man am nächsten Tag auch schon wieder um 5Uhr raus mußte…

Der Rückflug war dann quasi nur noch die letzte Hürde und wurde fast noch durch ein defektes Flugzeug verhindert, wo die Laune auch erstmal wieder in den Keller ging, wie Ihr euch vielleicht vorstellen könnt…da Fliegt man ca 12 mal und alles geht gut, dann willl man einfach nur noch nach Haus und dann so was…Wir mussten nämlich in Paris zwischenlanden, bevor es dann weiter Richtung Düsseldorf ging. In der Maschine angekommen ertönte auch schon kurz darauf der Alarm mit dem Zeichen “Evakuierung”!!! alle sofort raus aus dem Flugzeug, warum? das Cockpit brannte, draussen war Remmi Demmi und ein riesen Angebot an Feuerwehren war sofort zur Stelle. Dies bedeutete erstmal wieder warten, Ratlosigkeit und Ungewissheit wie der Abend weiter aussieht. Recht schnell kam dann die Nachricht, dass alle mit einer anderen Maschine nach Hause gebracht werden, was aber auch bedeutete, das wir nochmal 3std länger warten mussten. So war unser Aufenthalt dann ganze 6std, SUPER!!! und unsere Liebsten mussten sich noch ein bißchen länger in Düsseldorf am Flughafen gedulden, um uns endlich wieder in die Arme schliessen zu können. Aber wie Ihr seht leben wir noch und ist jetzt aber auch egal, da wir mittlerweile zu Haus angekommen sind und ich meine letzten Worte aus der Heimat tippe…Home Sweet Home…

Das war´s dann also mit der Asia Tour, alles in allem war es eine der
anstrengsten Touren die wir seid Jahren gemacht haben und uns sind einige
Dinge bewußt geworden, die sich in Zukunft ändern müssen…Ich spreche
hier nur von dem Organisatorischen und nicht von den Shows, denn die
waren alle der Hammer…
Ich möchte Danke sagen, an alle Leute die auf den Shows waren und uns
Supportet haben, uns die Energie und Schweiß gegeben haben…Ihr wart alle
großartig, DANKE DANKE DANKE!!!
Danke auch an alle Promoter und Helfer, die es möglich gemacht haben die
Shows zu spielen!!!

Down Under, Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide - English version up!

ENGLISH VERSION

Hello alltogether,

as you probably know, we didn’t have the chance to go online all that often, which is why we are doing several days at once now…I can only tell you, that we are really spoilt concerning the internet connection we’re having at home in Germany, at least speaking of the speed and stability…however, heading from Jakarta with stop in Singapore to Brisbane, with an almost 5 hour stopover at the airport of Singapore, which is built like a small city…they even have a swimming pool and a spa/sauna…we used the stopover to check our mails, write the tour diary and drink a few Tiger beers…because of that the time went by way too fast and there we were again, up in the sky…

We were all a bit tensed, as we were flying with Quantas and Quantas did have a few problems with their planes recently…within only a few weeks I think 4 planes had to perform a forced landing, respectively landed again after a technical defect…and the flight was everything but calm!!! Normally, I can sleep always and everywhere, but on this flight this was not the case, because the signal to fasten your seatbelts came pretty early, even for the crew, due to heavy turbulences, you feel quite lost and defenseless…but as you can see, we survived the flight and till now also the 3 others with Quantas, following 2 now…

Arrived in Brisbane, we were welcomed by MJ ( Destroy all lines ) and driven to the hotel at first to get a bit of sleep for 2 hours, WOW, Never get sleep Tour 2008…
One of the first stops then was a pharmacy, because Denis and Marco catched a heavy cold, too bad…
Then at the club the usual procedure, equipment check, buildup, soundcheck and in between a little snack thrown in and waiting for the show…with us was Her Nightmare, a nice mosh band from Australia, that accompanied us during all Australian Dates. The show was pretty good visited, but the people that were there rocked and moshed the place like hell, it was an awesome starter, for sure, thank you Brisbane!!!
After the show it was still no finishing time, yet, as we had to bring all the equipment to another club, where we played the next day (also in Brisbane). There we got a fresh, cold beer…that was very pleasant for us, as there was a strict ban on alcohol at the show before…anyway, the guy at the club was this nice, he gave us a few more beers that we finished up at the hotel, after that we said good night.
The next day took off relaxed, we drove to a Koala Parc, where we all saw Koalas, Kangaroos and Wombats live for the first time and also had contact with them, fluffy and cosy animals they are, the Koalas…

After 2 hours walking, watching animals and taking pictures we had to get back to work. Today, an over 18 show was taking place in Brisbane. What you have to know, here bands usually play two shows in the same town, there is always one for the younger generation and for the older ones. Today the old farts got to watch us
The club was nicely packed and the people had a fabulous spirit. It’s funny but I (Patrick) met a guy from home, who is studying in Brisbane for a semester. The world really is too small! We were a bit disappointed, that the owner of the club, who invited us to a stripbar, which was, how we noticed throughout the evening, no stripbar but a totally normal club. We didn’t even go there. With a whiskey sour and a few dancing girls we wouldn’t mind, but not like that. Not with the Commander!

For the reason that we didn’t have hotels but appartments instead in OZ, we had the possibility to do our laundry for the first time on tour, what suited us quite well. After 6 shows, the stageclothes smell pretty bad. Said, done….and I praise our dryer in Germany, they manage to dry 4 kilos of laundry within 2 hours. Here, this takes about 17 hours. We should’ve hung our laundry to dry in the air, would have probably gone faster….hahahahaha….

On the next day we were heading to Sydney. Same procedure every day! For that reason only the essentials. Pre-sale was great. The club, too. Lars, our FOH man was delighted to see a proper PA, finally. Only with the air condition, they’re taking it seriously, like in America. Our backstage was as cold as the south pole. Might be linked to the fact that we’re not that far from that place whatsoever. :-))

The show was really good, this good, that a girl threw her dildo on stage. Wonder what she wanted to tell us with that…Subsequently we got back to the hotel immediately, 4 hours of sleep, because our flight was scheduled for 7 in the morning again.

Melbourne meant doubleshow. Two shows, one day. For the kids during midday, for over 18 in the evening. The middayshow was quite strange. We felt a bit like on a 12 year old’s birthday. hahaha…just young faces, no one older than 17. But the show was fun and the kids were coming loose. The evening was better then. The show was almost sold out and Melbourne really rocked the place. For me, one of the tour’s highlights. I thought it was nice, that Yvonne (The Heroines) came to visit us. She moved to New Zealand a year ago and was in Melbourne a day before the show. Also very neat, that a guy from the southern tip of New Zealand came by plane, extra for our show. Changing 3 times, on the road for many hours and worsed off by 1000 Dollars.
THANK YOU, MAN! This is the kind of support we’re dreaming of.

Today, we’re sitting in Adelaide. Offday. Yesterday, the show was, despite of a few technical problems of the club, cool. We already knew the club as we were playing here in 2006 with Soulfly. Therefore, familiar faces, because when Andy asked, who saw us here 2 years ago, a few hands raised into the air. Very nice, people! Go on!!!!

Well, and as a Caliban offday of this tour is different than usual, or than in other bands, we spent a few hours waiting in the embassy again. What else. Our workvisa only lasted until yesterday, our last show, and we then were in the need of a touristvisa, what you usually get for free. Because everything is fixed in advance when the flight is booked. But we had to spent 1500 Dollar, to get a visa for 3 more days. Thanks to the people, that missed to take care of that beforehand…..
We intended to go cart driving that day, but we were so pissed after the incidence, that we went back to the appartment, cooked and wasted the whole day with sleep. Sleep is important, too. Tomorrow we’re visiting Sydney for 1,5 days with sightseeing. I hope everything goes ok and we get to see the opera and the harbour. We are excited!

Ok, we arrived in Sydney without any big problems, and we were staying in the same hotel we have been in before, a quite fancy temple, a bit cool in total, but fancy…We only did a short break in the hotel, because the weather was really nice and we took off straightly to see something of Sydney…Our guide was practically Loon (Tourmanager), as he was knowing Sydney a bit better from spending his holiday here…Our first station was supposed to be the Chinese Garden, which was closed when we got there…so we went further into the Sydney harbour direction, to the harbour, where the opera is close-by. In the harbour there was also the Sydney Aquarium, which looked pretty inviting, so that we decided to discover Sydneys underwater world after a snack. To get a snack in the harbour isn’t that easy by the way, sea gulls are dancing around you like all the time, waiting to get something of yours (mine, mine)..you really had to watch that they wouldn’t steal your food out of your hands…and when you threw something to pick into their direction a masshysteria broke out, which was quite funny to watch. And there were not even all of them…

As the world is well-known for being very small, we knew someone here again and this time it was Julia, an old acquaintance of Patrick that is backpacking here since 8 months…she visited us with another friend of hers at the harbour and went to the aquarium with us. After the snack like mentioned we visited the Aquarium, which was definitely not a waste of time. Well, I have never seen such strange creatures before, not even in the TV and what was the most impressive for me, the huge pool with the sharks and rays, this was really awesome, the sharks and their attachments swam above us, in front of us and beneath us, they were simply everywhere…unfortunately you couldn’t take any good pictures, glas and flash doesn’t work too well, here just a small impression for you…

Julia then invited us to a backpaper party in the evening, and we accepted thankfully…therefore the next stop was a bottleshop, thats the name of the shops where you can buy alcohol and then back to our rooms to do a bit pre-drinking. Said, done, off to the party…
The party war really cool, very crowded and the booze was definitely flowing, we all don’t want to know how much money we left there, the bad awakening will come in a month, when we’re all getting our credit card bill, ouch. Nobody of us really knows how the evening ended exactly, and I think that’s good that way, it was at least bright outside and we had lots of fun…

The day after started off a bit weary, but as we still wanted to see something, we headed to the opera and the harbour bridge, that are two rad buildings, impressive!!!

What is left for me to say now, off to Japan, the last country of this tour…

Hallo zusammen, wie Ihr sicherlich mitbekommen habt, haben wir nicht so oft die Gelegenheit online zu kommen und deswegen machen wir jetzt immer direkt ein paar Tage auf einmal…ich kann euch nur sagen, das wir ganz schön verwöhnt sind was das Internet zu Haus in Deutschland angeht, zumindest was die Geschwindigkeit und Stabilität angeht…wie auch immer, los ging´s in Jakarta über Singapur nach Brisbane, mit nem knapp 5stündigen aufenthalt auf dem Flughafen in Singapore, der aufgebaut ist wie eine kleine Stadt…da gibt´s sogar nen Swimmingpool und ne Spa/Sauna…Den Aufenthalt haben wir dazu genutzt mal Mails zu checken,Tourtagebuch zu schreiben und ein paar Tiger Biere zu leeren…dadurch ging die Zeit schnell vorbei und auf ging´s in die Lüfte…
Wir waren alle etwas angespannt, da wir mit Quantas geflogen sind und Quantas in der letzten Zeit doch einige Probleme mit Ihren Flugzeugen hatte…ich glaube es sind innerhalb von ein paar Wochen 4 Flugzeuge Notgelandet, bzw nach technischem Defekt wieder gelandet…und der Flug war auch mal alles andere als entspannend!!! Ich kann normaler weise immer und überall schlafen, aber auf diesen Flug war das nicht der Fall, denn es ging schon recht früh das Anschnallsignal an, selbst für die Crew, wegen starker Turbolenzen, da fühlt man sich dann doch etwas verloren und hilflos…aber wie Ihr sehen könnt, haben wir den Flug überlebt und bis jetzt auch die 3 anderen die wir mit Quantas geflogen sind, folgen noch 2…
In Brisbane angekommen wurden wir dann von MJ ( Destroy all lines ) in Empfang genommen und erstmal ins Hotel gefahren um ein bißchen zu pennen und das ganze 2std, WOW…Never get sleep Tour 2008…
Mit der erste Stop war dann eine Apotheke, da Denis und Marco sich ne fette Erkältung eingefangen haben, schade…
Dann im Club angekommen die übliche Prozedur, Equipment Check, Aufbau, Soundcheck und zwischendurch nen kleinen Snack einwerfen und auf die Show warten…Mit dabei waren Her Nightmare, eine nette Mosh Kapelle aus Australien, die uns die ganzen Australien Dates begleitet haben. Die Show war relativ gut besucht, aber die Leute die da waren haben gerockt und gemosht wie Sau, war auf jeden Fall ein guter Einstand, Danke Brisbane!!! Nach der Show war noch kein Feierabend, da wir noch das ganze Equipment in einen anderen Club bringen mußten, wo wir dann am nächsten Tag gespielt haben (auch in Brisbane). Da gabs dann aber erstmal n frisches, kühles Blondes für uns…Das kam uns sehr gelegen, da auf der Show zuvor nämlich strengstes Alkohol Verbot galt…wie auch immer, der Typ vom Club war dann noch so nett, das er uns noch mehr Biere mitgegeben hat, die wir dann im Hotel geleert haben, danach hieß es dann aber erstmal gute Nacht.
Der nächste Tag fing dann aber erstmal entspanned an, da wir in einen Koala Park gefahren sind, wo wir alle das erste mal Koalas, Kängurus und Wombats Live gesehen haben und auch Kontakt mit hatten, flauschige und gemütliche Knubbeltiere die Koalas…

Nach 2 Std rumlaufen, Tiere begutachten und Fotos machen, gings dann auch wieder ran an die Arbeit. Heute war ne über 18 Show in Brisbane. Was ihr wissen müsst, hier spielen die Bands meistens 2 Shows in der gleichen Stadt, da es immer eine für die ältere Generation gibt und für die Jüngeren. Heute abend waren dann die alten Säcke dran mit gucken.
Der Club war gut gefüllt und die Leute mörder gut drauf. Lustiger Weise habe ich (Patrick) dann auch noch nen Typen aus der Heimat getroffen, der für ein Semester in Brisbane studiert. Die Welt ist einfach zu klein!
Ein bisschen enttäuschend war, dass der Clubbesitzer uns in seine Stripbar eingeladen hat, die dann, wie sich im laufe des Abends herausstellte, keine Stripbar, sondern nen ganz normaler Club war. Sind dann auch nicht mehr hin. Auf nen Whiskey Sour und ein paar tanzende Mädels hätten wir ja nichts einzuwenden gehabt, aber so nicht. Nicht mit dem Kommander!

Da wir hier in OZ keine Hotels sondern Appartments haben, konnten wir das erste mal auf der Tour wäsche waschen, was uns sehr gelegen kam. Denn nach 6 Shows riechen die Liveklamotten doch recht streng.
Gesagt, getan………..und ich lobe mir unsere Trockner in Deutschland, die es schaffen 4 Kg Wäsche in 2 Std Schranktrocken zu kriegen. Hier dauert das dann mal gute 17 Std. Wir hätten die Wäsche wohl besser an die Luft gehangen, wäre sicher schneller trocken geworden……hahahahahaha……

Am nächsten Tag gings dann nach Sydney. Same procedure every day! Deswegen nur das Wesentliche.
Vorverkauf war super. Der Club auch. Lars unser FOH Mann war dann auch mal entzückt, da endlich mal ne amtliche PA am Start war. Nur mit den Klimaanlagen habens die hier richtig fett, wie in Ammiland. Unser Backstage war kalt wie am Südpol. Kann auch damit zusammenhängen das wir gar nicht so weit davon entfernt sind. :-))
Show war dann auch richtig gut, so gut, dass uns ein Mädel sogar Ihren Dildo auf die Bühne geworfen hat. Was sie uns damit wohl sagen wollte…..
Danach hieß es dann wieder direkt ins Hotel, 4 Std schlafen, da der Flug nach Melbourne am nächsten Tag schon wieder um 7 Uhr ging.

In Melbourne hiess es dann Doppelshow. 2 Shows an einem Tag. Mittags für Kids, abends für über 18er.
Die Mittagsshow war dann ganz schön strange. Wir fühlten uns ein bisschen wie auf nem Geburtstag von nem 12jährigen. hahahaha…….nur junge Gesichter………..Keiner älter wie 17. Aber die Show hat spass gemacht und die Kids gingen auch gut ab.
Abends wars dann schon etwas besser. Die Show war kurz vor Ausverkauft und Melbourne hat echt gerockt. Für mich ein Highlight auf der Tour.
Schön war auch, dass Yvonne (The Heroines) uns besuchen kam. Sie ist vor ca nem Jahr nach Neuseeland gezogen und tatsächlich einen Tag vor der Show nach Melbourne.
Aber auch sehr geil war, dass ein Typ von der Südspitze Neuseelands extra für unsere Show nach Melbourne geflogen kam. 3 mal Umsteigen und viele Stunden unterwegs und um 1000 Dollar ärmer.
DANKE, ALTER!!!! So einen Support kann man sich nur wünschen.

Heute sitzen wir in Adelaide. Offday. Gestern die Show war, bis auf diverse Technikprobleme des Clubs, cool.
Wir kannten den Club aber schon, da wir 2006 hier schon mit Soulfly waren. Also, bekannte Gesichter, denn nach der Frage von Andy wer uns hier vor 2 Jahren gesehen hat, gingen doch viele Hände in die Luft. Sehr gut Leute! Weiter so!!!!!

Tja, und da ein Caliban Offday nunmal auf dieser Tour anders verläuft wie sonst, oder wie bei anderen Bands, haben wir heute mal wieder ein paar Std mit dem Warten in der Botschaft verbracht. Was auch sonst. Unser Arbeitsvisum gilt nämlich nur bis gestern, also letzte Show, und man braucht dann nen Touristenvisa, was normalerweise kostenlos ist. Denn alles ist mit Buchung des Fluges vorher geregelt. So durften wir dann mal grad 1500 Dollar locker machen, um noch für 3 Tage ein Visum zu bekommen. Danke an die, die es verkackt haben sich vorher drum zu kümmern…………
Wir wollten an diesem Offday eigentlich Cart fahren gehen, waren aber nach dem ganzen Hickhack so angepisst, dass wir zurück ins Apartment sind, gekocht und den ganzen Tag verpennt haben. Schlaf ist ja auch wichtig.
Morgen gehts dann für 1,5 Tage nach Sydney für Sightseeing. Ich hoffe es kommt diemal nichts dazwischen und wir bekommen die Oper und den Hafen zu sehen. Man ist gespannt!

So, ohne große Probleme in Sydney angekommen sind wir wieder ins gleiche Hotel wo wir schon vorher gehaust haben, ein recht schicker Tempel, ein bißchen kühl insgesamt, aber schick…Haben dann eigentlich nur nen kurzen break im Hotel gemacht, da das Wetter echt schön war und sind dann direkt mal raus um etwas von Sydney zu sehen…Unser Führer war quasi der Loon ( tourmanager ), da er Sydney schon etwas besser aus Urlauben kannte…Unsere erste Station sollte der Chinesische Garten sein, der dann aber schon zu hatte als wir dort ankamen…sind dann einfach weiter richtung Sydney Harbour gelaufen, also zum Hafen wo auch die Oper in der nähe ist…Am Hafen war dann auch das Aquarium von Sydney, was sehr einladend war, haben uns dann also dazu entschlossen nach nem Snack uns mal die Unterwasserwelt Sydneys anzuschauen…Einen Snack am Hafen einzunehmen ist übrigens gar nicht so einfach, da ständig ohne Ende Möven um einen herum tänzeln, die nur drauf warten was abgreifen zu können ( meins,meins)…da muß man echt aufpassen das die Viecher dir das Essen nicht aus der Hand klauen…Und wenn man dann mal was zu Picken in ihre Richtung geworfen hat gabs direkt ne Massenhysterie, was recht lustig war. und das waren noch längst nicht alle…
Da die Welt ja auch bekanntlich sehr klein ist, kannte man auch hier wieder jemanden und zwar war das Julia, ne alte bekannte von Patrick die hier schon seit 8 Monaten Backpacker macht…Sie hat uns also mit noch ner Freundin am Hafen besucht und ist mit uns ins Aquarium gegangen.
Nach dem Snack gings dann wie gesagt ins Aquarium, was sich sehr gelohnt hat…Also so komische Lebewesen hab ich noch nie gesehen, auch nicht im TV und am für mich am eindruckvollsten war dann das große Becken mit den Haien und Rochen, das war schon sehr geil, da die Haie und Anhang vor einem, über einem und unter einem geschwommen sind, die waren einfach überall…leider konnte man da keinen guten Fotos machen, Glas und Blitz läuft ja nunmal nicht, hier nur ein kleiner Eindruck für euch…

Julia hat uns dann auch direkt für Abends auf ne Backpacker Party eingeladen, wo wir dankend angenommen haben…Also war das nächste Ziel erstmal n Bottleshop, so heißen hier die Läden wo man Alk kaufen kann und auf´s Zimmer ein bißchen Vorglühen…Gesagt, Getan und auf zur Party…
Die Party war dann sehr geil, sehr voll und sehr sehr feucht Fröhlich, wir alle wollen nicht wissen was wir da an Kohle gelassen haben, das böse Erwachen kommt dann in nem Monat, wenn wir unsere Kreditkarten Abrechnung bekommen, Autsch…Wie der Abend letztendlich endete weiß auch keiner mehr genau und ich glaub das ist auch gut so, es war zumindest schon sehr hell draußen und wir hatten ne menge Spaß…
Der Tag danach fing dann etwas schleppender an, aber da man ja noch was sehen wollte, sind wir dann auf zur Oper und Harbour Bridge, das sind schon echt krasse Bauwerke, beeindruckend!!!
Am nächsten Tag war dann Abreise, hieß für uns um 10uhr aus den Zimmern und bis 19uhr auf´s Taxi warten, da der Flug erst um kurz vor 22uhr ging…haben die Zeit dann genutzt uns den Botanischen Garten anzusehen, der sehr schön war, was zu Futtern und ein paar Biere zu leeren, ich würd sagen das wir das beste draus gemacht haben…

Dann bleibt nur noch zu sagen, auf nach Japan, ins letzte Land auf dieser Tour…

Indonesien, Solo, Malang, Jakarta + English Version

ENGLISH VERSION

Good day my friends, after we almost didn’t sleep again, we were heading to the airport, and the drive there was everything else but recreative…just as the whole Check-In procedure, I only say you have to be bold, first come, first served.

Arriving in Solo, Indonesia, we were welcomed heartily by Mr. Eko (Promoter) and his guys, which meant filmcrew and all that…every step is documented…

We were driven in a pretty big bus, which was booked by the hotel…the hotel was the best in town according to the people, and co-sponsored the concert at the same time…this was a place to feel good : )

At the hotel we had a nice breakfast and subsequently we cooled down in the pool, what was about time!!

After cooling down we were taken to a “press conference” and were received with applause and flashlights, very euphpric people here….after some questions and beers it continued with autographs and taking pictures…I guess after this tour I’ll become blind, never experienced a photo-freak country like this one before. But on the other hand, we havent been to Japan, yet.

Quickly to the hotel and then to the venue, which, in this case, was a velodrome, where at least 15000 would fit in, SHOCK…but not to change anymore. Arrived, everything was checked, built up and set for the soundcheck later on…

Meanwhile, I marvelled the toilet, which was literally just a piece of lawn with a roof, no bowl, Dixi, hole or whatever, just lawn…unfortunately I missed taking a picture of it…then we tried to do the soundcheck, were distracted from that though, because there was probably half of Solo’s policemen crew marching in and the police chief himself was briefing his people, with microphone, stand at attention…

The whole program lasted about half an hour approximately, Solo in state of emergency…whatever, soundcheck finished, Hotel, chilling a bit and then back to the velodrome again, for the show….no clue how many people were expected, but there were something between 1500 and 2000, which still looks quity shitty in a huge place like that, but we were satisfied…
The show was pretty cool and after a small melting phase of the a bit shy people very cool and luckily not as hot as the first show, being an open air show this time.

After the show back to the hotel, showering and then to the hotel bar, where we destroyed uncountable Pitcher beers…the place was rocking and even there we were welcomed heartily and with applause by the guests and the cover band that was playing at that time, strange…even the hotel director introduced himself personally and welcomed us to his hotel with a handshake. I guess there was almost no one in Solo, who didn’t know us…

The next day was more relaxing again, because it was again off. I know, you probably think we don’t work here at all, but the offdays are planned very good, as the travels her are very exhausting. Anyway, midday we were heading to the embassy again, because we were told at the airport, we have to stamp our visa within the first 7 days. Funny, the policemen that told us that at the aiport was the same one, that welcomed us in the embassy, to tell us, that this is only necessary to do if you’re staying longer than 30 days in the country. WTF?!!!! What kinda jerk is this?!!!! But that didn’t matter…everything’s a bit different here obviously…..the main thing is we wasted another two hours with that shit. After that we went to Solo’s radio station, where Andy and Patrick had to answer all questions of the hyperactive seeming moderator. Was super and funny, though.
There we were finished after about half an hour and Patrick had to speak a dozen of stattion ID’s. Very liked by musicans, as you get a knot in your tongue after te 5th time at the latest.

Back at the hotel we enjoyed the pool again. There was a very cheerful girl, that took care of us a bit throughout the day. She was supposed to take the part of our tour guide, but when we came across the fact that she would like to take us to the museum and a market, we refused thankfully. Too funny, she was called Fikki, introduced herself as Kikki though, because someone told her what the name means in German, before. Hahahahaha….we had a blast……

Later in the evening we wereinvited to a traditional Indorestaurant. Were welcomed and served by the family. This was a real highlight, although we thought it isn’t good there at the beginning, as there was a lonesome entertainer warbling with about 180db all lost in himself. But the food and atmosphere was great. The restaurant was build of bambus and other wood. You could sit at the table or on the floor. Simply genius!!!
After an almost hour long photosession with guests, other bands, the family and the constant filming of the filmcrew during the dinner, we were released to go back to the hotel.

On the way back we saw something really weird, a huge billboard of us, reaching over a 4-lane street, see by yourself….

Here we had some time to chill, before we had to get on the bus again to ride to Malang at midnight. We didn’t miss to take a short look into the bar with the coverband to drink another pitcher and say goodbye. Too bad, because the band was awesome and we would have liked to watch them just a little longer.

The drive to Malang was everything else but funny. We were squeezed in a small rice bowl with 20 people, all the luggage and the equipment. How nice, that the ride to Malang was only 8 hours.
This all was shitty already, but when we stopped every 5 minutes, because we were having an A/C problem, I could have just yelled SHIT. I thought, we would never arrive that way. But when everyone said, screw the air conditioning and open the fucking windows, there were no more delays and the ride went on.
We got rewarded with the mountains outside Malang with a marvelous view on the jungle and a fabulous sunrise.
Finally at the hotel I will spare you the details, as theyre all the same as always, like sleeping, eating and the other vital stuff.

The venue we were supposed to play in that night was huge again. UMM DOM. It belongs to a Muslim University and accomodates about 7000 people. It’s rad to headline in such big venues. Soundcheck, Hotel, back to the club, umm, huge venue, that resembles the Westfalenhalle in Dortmund a bit.

The show was awesome again, as the euphoric Indokids got loose as hell. A successful evening - and all the exertions were forgotten.

After the show and a short shower we were heading to the airport of Surabaya where we took off to Jakarta.
No sleep for many hours, like you can imagine.

This was compensated before we took off to the open air area of Jakarta. That this was a huge place again, I don’t need to mention.

The soundcheck lasted curtly 4 hours this time, because the locals didn’t manage the humming of Marcs amps. After the 6th amp it was ok, more bad than good, but better than nothing at all. Amusing, too, that Leo, an old friend from Hamburg, came to see us. He is Indonesian and stayed in Germany for a few years to work. Now he’s back and owns a recording studio with his brother here. The show was fun and we felt very comfortable, what you were able to see during our very energetic show.

After the show, old procedure: Room, drinking until the lights turned off. Nice!!!

Now we were facing two offdays again where we have nothing to tell about, as we spent them with sleeping without exception. With Leo, his brother and his wife to a restaurant in the evening, then back to bed again. Writing and uploading the diary in between. Yes, that should be enough.

Tomorrow, Tuesday 12th August 2008, at 10 in the morning, we are continuing our tour in Brisbane/OZ with a stop in singapore.

Indonesien Solo:
Guten Tag meine Freunde, nachdem wir wieder mal so gut wie NICHT geschlafen haben, sind wir auf Richtung Flughafen und die Fahrt war mal alles andere als entspannend…Genau so wie die ganze Check In Prozedur, ich sag nur dreist muß man sein, wer zu erst kommt, malt zu erst…

In Solo, Indonesien angekommen wurden wir erstmal herzlichst von Mr.Eko (Promoter) und seinen Leuten empfangen und das hieß mit Filmcrew und allem Drum und Dran…jeder Schritt und Tritt wurde dokumentiert…

Gefahren wurden wir dann in nem recht großen Bus,welcher vom Hotel aus Gebucht war…Das Hotel war nach Aussage der Leute das Beste der Stadt und hat gleichzeitig auch das Konzert mitgesponsort…das war ein Platz zum wohlfühlen : )

Am Hotel angekommen gabs dann erst mal n super Frühstück und im Anschluss daran haben wir uns im Pool abgekühlt, was auch sehr nötig war!!!

Nachdem wir uns abgekühlt haben sind wir dann zu einer “Pressekonferenz” gefahren worden und wurden mit Applaus und Blitzlichtern empfangen, sehr Euphorisch die Leute hier…nach einigen Fragen und Bieren gings dann weiter mit Autogrammen und Fotos machen…Ich glaube nach dieser Tour bin ich Blind, hab noch nie so ein Foto Geiles Land erlebt ; ) Aber wir waren ja bis jetzt auch noch nicht in Japan.

Kurz ins Hotel und ab zur Venue, was in diesem Falle ein Velodrome war, wo bestimmt mindestens 15000 Leute reingepasst haben, SHOCK…aber nicht mehr zu ändern. Angekommen, wurde erstmal alles gecheckt, aufgebaut und eingestellt für den späteren Soundcheck…

ich habe derweil die Toilette bestaunt, die quasi ein Stück Wiese war mit nem Dach drüber, also auch keine Schüssel, Dixi, Loch oder sonstiges, einfach nur Wiese…leider hab ich´s verpeilt n Foto zu machen…Dann haben wir versucht n Soundcheck zu machen, wurden aber daran gehindert, weil da bestimmt die halbe Besetzung der Polizei Solo´s einmaschiert ist und der Polizeichef persönlich seine Leute eingewiesen hat, mit Mikro, Strammstehen…

das ganze Programm hat ca ne halbe Stunde gedauert, Solo im Ausnahmezustand…Na ja egal, Soundcheck beendet, Hotel, n bißchen Chillen und dann gings auch schon wieder zum Velodrome zur Show…Keine Ahnung wieviel Leute erwartet wurden, aber da waren irgendwas zwischen 1500 und 2000 Leuten, sieht zwar in so nem riesen Ding immer noch Scheiße aus, aber wie waren zufrieden damit…
Die Show war dann recht Cool und nach ner kleinen Auftauphase der etwas verhaltenen Leute sehr Cool und zum Glück nicht wieder so heiß wie die erste Show, da es ja ne Open Air Show war.

Nach der Show ging´s dann wieder ins Hotel, erstmal Duschen und Anschließend in die Hotel Bar, wo wir dann ewig viele Pitcher Bier vernichtet haben…da war richtig was los und selbst da wurden wir herzlichst und mit Applaus von den Gästen und der Cover Band die gerade gespielt hat empfangen, Strange..Sogar der Hotelchef hat es sich nicht nehmen lassen sich persönlich bei uns vorzustellen und uns mit Handschlag in seinem Hotel Willkommen zu heissen. Ich glaub in Solo gab es so gut wie niemanden, der uns nicht kannte…

Der nächste Tag lief dann wieder etwas relaxter an, da wieder off war. Ich weiss, man könnte denken wir arbeiten hier nix, aber die offdays sind sehr gut geplant, da die Reisen hier extrem anstrengend sind.
Egal, mittags gings dann erstmal wieder Richtung Botschaft, da man uns am Flughafen gesagt hatte, man müsste sein Visum innerhalb der ersten 7 Tage abstempeln. Komisch war nur, dass der Bulle der uns das am Flughafen sagte auch der war, der uns bei der Botschaft in Empfang nahm, um uns dann zu sagen, dass man das nur machen müsste wenn man länger wie 30 Tage im Land bleibt. Hääää?!!!! Watt´n datt fürn Vogel?!!!!! Auch das war egal………hier läuft anscheinend alles ein wenig anders…………Hauptsache mal wieder 2 Std mit scheiss vergeudet.
Danach gings dann ab zum Radiosender von Solo, wo Andy und Patrick sich dann allen Fragen des hyperaktiv scheinenden Moderators stellten. War aber super und lustig.
Dort waren wir dann ca nach ner halben Stunde fertig und Patrick musste dann noch ein Dutzend Station ID´s sprechen. Das ist bei Musikern immer besonders beliebt, da man spätestens beim 5. nen Knoten in die Zunge bekommt.

Zurück im Hotel war mal wieder Pool angesagt. Dabei war auch ein sehr aufgekratztes Mädel, was sich schon den ganzen Tag ein wenig um uns gekümmert hatte. Sie sollte eigentlich den Part der Fremdenführerin übernehmen, aber als wir hörten sie wolle mit uns in ein Museum und auf einen Markt gehen, haben wir dankend abgelehnt. Lustig war, dass sie Fikki hiess, sich aber immer als Kikki vorstellte, da man ihr im Vorfeld sagte, was ihr Name auf deutsch bedeutet. hahahahahaha……………ein gefundenes Fressen für uns……………

Später am Abend waren wir dann in einem traditionellen Indorestaurant eingeladen. Wurden da von der Familie herzlichst empfangen und verköstigt. Es war ein echtes higlight, obwohl wir am Anfang dachten, scheisse hier, da dort ein Alleinunterhalter mit ca 180db vor sich herträllerte.Aber das Essen und Atmosphäre waren super. Das Restaurant war aus Bambus und anderen Brettern zusammengestellt. Man konnte entweder am Tisch oder auf dem Boden sitzen. Einfach nur genial!!!! Nach einer fast einstündigen Fotosession mit Gästen, anderen Bands, der Familie und des ständigen Filmens derFilmcrew beim Essen, gings dann wieder zurück ins Hotel.

Auf dem Rückweg haben wir dann noch was ziemlich krasses entdeckt, ein riesen Bilboard von uns, was über ne 4 spurige Straße reichte…seht selbst…

Hier hatten wir nun noch etwas Zeit zum Chillen, bevor es dann um 0 Uhr wieder hiess, ab in den Bus und los nach Malang. Wir haben uns es aber nicht nehmen lassen nochmal für ne halbe Stunde in der Bar mit der Coverband vorbeizuschauen, noch nen Pitcher zu trinken und Tschüss zu sagen. Schade, denn die Band war echt geil und wir hätten gerne noch ein bisschen länger zugeschaut.

Die Fahrt nach Malang war dann alles Andere als lustig. Wir waren mit ca 20 Leuten und dem ganzen Gepäck und Equipment in dieser kleinen Reisschüssel eingequetscht. Was ein Glück das die Fahrt nach Malang nur 8 Std dauerte.
Das war ja schon alles scheisse, aber als wir dann alle 5 min wieder anhalteten, da wir ein A/C Problem hatten, hätt ich nur noch SCHEISSE schreien können. Ich dachte, so kommen wir nie an.
Als aber alle gesagt hatten, scheiss auf Klima und mach die kack Fenster auf, gings dann auch ohne weitere Verzögerungen weiter.
Belohnt wurden wir dann aber in den Bergen vor Malang mit einer wahnsinns Aussicht auf den Dschungel und nem super geilen Sonnenaufgang.
Dann endlich im Hotel verschone ich Euch mit den Einzelheiten, da diese doch immer wieder die selben sind, wie schlafen, essen und all die lebensnotwenigen Dinge.

Die Venue in der wir abends spielen sollten war mal wieder riesig. UMM DOM. Dieser gehört zur Moslemischen Universität und fasst ca 7000 Leute. Es ist schon geil mal in so grossen Hallen zu headlinen.
Soundcheck, Hotel, zurück zum Club, äh riesen Halle, die wirklich ein bisschen an die Dortmunder Westfalenhalle erinnert.

Die show war dann wieder mal der Hass, da die euphorischen Indokids voll abgingen. Ein gelungener Abend - und die Strapazen waren vergessen.

Nach der Show gings dann nach kurzer Dusche wieder weiter zum Flughafen von Surabaya von wo wir dann nach Jakarta flogen. Ihr könnt Euch vorstellen, dass es erst mal wieder für viele, viele Stunden keinen Schlaf gab.

Das wurde dann aber nachgeholt bevor wir dann Richtung Open Air Gelände von Jakarta aufbrachen. Das das wieder nen riesen Platz war, brauch ich auch nicht erwähnen.

Der Soundcheck dauerte diesmal knapp 4 Std, da die örtlichen das Brummen von Marcs Amp nicht in den Griff bekamen. Nach dem 6. Amp gings dann, zwar mehr schlecht als recht, aber besser als gar nichts.
Lustig war auch, dass Leo, ein alter Bekannter aus Hamburg, uns besuchen kam. Er ist Indonese und war für ein paar Jahre in Deutschland zum arbeiten. Nun ist er wieder zurück und hat hier mit seinem Bruder ein Tonstudio.
Die Show hat spass gemacht und wir haben uns richtig wohl gefühlt, was man auch an der doch sehr energischen Show von uns sehen konnte.

Nach der Show die alte Prozedur: Zimmer, trinken bis die Lichter ausgingen. Schön!!!

Nun standen wieder 2 Offdays ins Haus über die es nichts zu berichten gibt, da wir die ausschliesslich mit schlafen ausgefüllt haben. Abends mit Leo, seinem Bruder und dessen Frau ins Restaurant, dann wieder ab ins Bett. Zwichendurch das Tagebuch geschrieben und Hochgeladen. Ja, das sollte dann auch reichen.

Schliesslich gehts morgen, Dienstag 12.08.08, morgens um 10 Uhr weiter nach Brisbane/OZ mit Zwischenlandung in Singapur.

Offdays In Kuala Lumpur - ENGLISH VERSION ON!!!

ENGLISH VERSION

Alright, the first show properly done and finally slept in, we are facing 3 off days in Kuala Lumpur. Sunday evening was rather fucked up, because we all partied until the early morning. They said, the whole bash lasted till about eleven in the morning, which we couldn’t even remember. A quick stop at the restaurant and we were ready for sightseeing. And we were lucky, Ann and his guys Nuoro and her friend were willing to show us around.

After a quite short march, because our hotel is located directly in the centre of KL, we arrived at the Petronas Towers. Mighty and impressive the two towers are rising high up in the sky.
We did see them from the distance and during daytime these days, but to stand right in front of them while they’re illuminated was something completely different. Time for video, photo and the other tourist stuff we were heading to the Hard Rock Café. Alright, maybe not the most interesting, but we do have a fable for it and we try to locate one in each city of this world to take a picture (Patrick).

After the running around and sweating out the remaining traces of alcohol, we arrived at the hotel around midnight, for the reason that we had to get up early in the morning on the next day. Why?! We had to visit the Indonesian embassy to apply for our work visa for the upcoming shows.
Therefore, seven o’ clock and the alarm clock is ringing, into the van and off we go. Shortly after we finally arrived and ordered a coffee, because we were there too early, some nice employee told us that we can’t enter the embassy with short pants. How sweet!!! Back into the van, back to the hotel, putting on jeans while there are 32 degrees outside and a humidity of 70% and back to the department. But we arrived right on time at nine, so we hadn’t to wait long to get in again. Nice, that we know how Caliban Experience Tours works by now and we always take mishaps like that into account to our schedule.
However, to cut a long story short. WE HAVE THE VISAS!!! What also took 2,5 hours again.

Later on we were doing interviews -  but when they were done, Marco, Loon, Andy and I(Patrick) walked around to the bar quarter of KL to dine and drink something there. The round was so relaxing and nice though, that we literally had “round shoes” after a couple of Jag`s (that’s the name of the beer served in litre-mugs). What the others did, I unfortunately don’t have a clue about……

On the next day we finally managed to do something outside the city. BATU CAVES!!! A hindu temple in a cave. After curtly half an hour drive we were there and the huge gold statue of Shiva’s second son Murugan literally jumped all over us. The location was wicked with all its colorful and decorated rooftops, all the different gods and the long, really long stairs up to the cave. Almost 300 steps and 40 metre difference in altitude were to crest. But we also managed this, thanks to the wild monkeys that live there and were a blast. Partly trusting, partly pissed off by the tourists wanting to touch them constantly, the monkeys were racing around.

Marc, too, made acquaintance with one oft them. First the monkey let him stroke him, the other one no more, he bared us and especially Marc his teeth and hissed wildly. Whatever, screw you, we thought……..

Arriving in the cave the view was surely overwhelming. Hindus prayed, goose bumps music and drumming filled the cave with sound. The smell was not too good, but we suppressed that effectively. When we found something to drink, the monkeys were best friends with us again, which Marc had to learn the hard way. Monkeys surrounded us and begged us for our drinks. One regardless moment and Marc got robbed by one of those sneaky thiefs.
Fast he approached from the back, jumped on him and stole Marc’s can right out of his hand. Unbelievable this boldness! Still, funny as hell…..

Done with the sightseeing we, how else could it be, went for dinner and afterwards to bed, because our flight to Indonesia is scheduled for the next morning at 6.55 am, which means, we have to leave at 3.

GERMAN VERSION

So, die erste Show gut gemeistert und endlich mal ausgeschlafen, stehen und jetzt 3 Offdays in Kuala Lumpur bevor. Der Sonntag war aber dann eher für den Arsch, da wir alle bis in die Puppen nach der Show gefeiert haben. Man sagte uns, dass die ganze Feierei bis morgens um elf ging, was wir da schon gar nicht mehr wussten. Kurz unsere Körper ins Restaurant geworfen und Sightseeing war angesagt. Und wir haben Glück, dass Ann und seine Jungs, Nuoro und ihr Freund Zeit und Lust haben, mit uns die Gegend unsicher zu machen.

Nuoro, eine sehr nette Fremdenführerin…

Nach einem recht kurzem Fussmarsch, denn unser Hotel ist direkt im Zentrum vom KL, sind wir dann bei den Petronas Towern angekommen. Mächtig und beeindruckend ragen die 2 Türme weit in den Himmel. Wir hatten diese ja schon die Tage immer aus der Ferne und im Hellen gesehen, aber direkt davor und hellbeleuchtet war das schon ne ganz andere Baustelle.

Zeit für Video, Fotos und den anderen Tourikram sind wir dann weiter Richtung Hard Rock Cafe. OK, vielleicht nicht das Spannendste, aber ich hab nun mal nen Fable dafür und versuch in allen Städten dieser Welt eins auszumachen, um mich dort damit zu fotografieren (Patrick). Nach der rumrännerei und dem ausschwitzen des Restalkohols, sind wir dann gegen Mitternacht wieder in unser Hotel gekommen, denn am nächsten Tag hieß es wieder früh raus. Warum?! Wir mussten um 8 Uhr bei der Indonesischen Botschaft sein um unsere Arbeitsvisas für die kommenden Shows zu beantragen.

Also, sieben klingelt der Wecker, rein in den Van und los geht’s. Kurz nachdem wir dann endlich da waren, wir uns einen Kaffee bestellt hatten, denn wir waren etwas zu früh dran, meinte ein netter Angestellter, dass wir mit kurzen Hosen die Botschaft nicht betreten dürften. Na super!!! Also, rein in den Van, zurück ins Hotel, bei 32 Grad und 70% Luftfeuchtigkeit in die Jeans gehüpft und zurück zum Amt. Aber wir waren dann pünktlich um neun wieder da, so dass wir direkt rein konnten ohne noch lange draussen warten zu müssen. Schön das wir mitlerweile wissen wie Caliban-Erlebnisreisen funktioniert und diese Pannen immer in unserem Zeitplan mit einkalkulieren. Soweit so gut, lange Rede, kurzer Sinn. WIR HABEN DIE VISAS!!!! auch wenn das wieder 2,5 Std. gedauert hat.

Später hatten wir dann noch Interviews – aber als die dann geschafft waren, sind Marco, Loon, Andy und ich (Patrick) noch eine Runde ins Kneipenviertel von KL gegangen um dort zu speisen und etwas zu trinken. Die Runde war aber so entspannt und schön, dass wir nach diversen Jag´s (so heissen hier die Biere die in Literkannen ausgeschenkt werden) ganz schön „runde Schuhe“ hatten. Was die anderen gemacht haben entzieht sich leider meiner Kenntnis… Am nächsten Tag war dann endlich mal was außerhalb der Stadt angesagt. BATU CAVES!!! Ein Hindutemple in einer Höhle. Nach knapp einer halben Stunde fahrt waren wir auch schon da und die grosse goldene Statue von Shivas 2. Sohn Murugan sprang uns schon förmlich entgegen. Der Ort war super geil mit all seinen bunten und verzierten Dächern, all den verschiedenen Göttern und der langen, wirklich langen Treppe hoch in die Höhle. Knapp an die 300 Stufen und 40 Höhenmeter waren zu erklimmen. Aber auch das haben wir gepackt, dank der wilden Affen die dort leben und uns nen riesen Spass bereitet haben. Teils zutraulich, teils abgenervt von den Touris die sie dauernd betattschen wollen, rannten die Affen dort umher. Auch Marc machte Bekanntschaft mit einem dieser. Erst liess er sich streicheln, der Andere dann nicht mehr, was er uns und vor allem Marc mit „fletschenden“ Zähnen und wildfauchend zeigte. Egal, dann könnt ihr uns halt mal am Arsch lecken dachten wir………. In der Höhle angekommen war der Anblick doch schon überwältigend. Hindus beteten, Gänsehautmusik und trommeln füllten die Höhle mit Klang. Ein bisschen gemufft hat es auch, aber das verdrängt man dann schon mal gerne. Als wir uns dann was zu Trinken besorgt hatten, waren die Affen wieder ziemlich gut Freund mit uns, was Marc dann auch wieder am eigenen Leib spürte. Affen scharten sich um uns und bettelten nach was zu trinken. Einmal nicht aufgepasst, wurde Marc auch schon hinterhältig von einem dieser Viecher bestohlen. Schnell kam der von hinten angerannt, sprang hoch und klaute Marc die Dose mitten aus der Hand. Unglaublich diese Dreistheit!!! Aber auch schon wieder zum Schreien komisch………

Nach der Besichtigung sind wir, wie kann es anders sein, Essen gegangen und anschliessend ins Bett, denn unser Flug nach Indonesien ist den nächsten Morgen um 6.55 Uhr, was heisst, wir müssen um 3 raus. GUTE NACHT!!!!!!

Show & Hangover Time ; )

GERMAN VERSION

In ca 4std gehts los, die erste Show in Kuala Lumpur…

Der heutige Tag fing recht relaxed nach einer doch, zumindest gefühlten, kurzen Nacht an. Es hieß wir werden um 10.30 Uhr vom Hotel abgeholt, um dann zum Club zu fahren für Soundcheck und all die netten Dinge die man da so macht. Doch mit Pünktlichkeit hat man es hier nicht so. So hatten wir dann noch unfreiwillig 2 Std. mehr Zeit zu chillen. Was uns allen recht gut passte, denn gestern Abend wurden wir noch von Ann (Promoter) und seinen Leuten zu einem feuchtfröhlichem Beisammensein in eine Bar eingeladen. Der Rest ist Geschichte……:-)

Als es dann soweit war, ging eigentlich auch alles recht schnell, mit Aufbau und dem Check für den Abend.

Danach kurz ins Hotel frisch machen, essen gehen und dann zurück zum Club, da die Show hier heute schon um 16 Uhr startet und wir trotz 8 Vorbands gegen halb 7 dran sein sollen. Was aber auch nicht passierte. Aus halb 7 wurde dann halb neun, aber was sind schon 2 Std.?! Hahahahahaha………….

Trotz des guten Soundchecks mußte ja beim richtigen Set wieder was schief laufen, wie soll´s auch anders sein bei der Ersten Show auf ner Tour…Das komplette Inear System ist ausgefallen und somit mußten wir einige Songs auf gut Glück spielen, was aber gut funktioniert hat, sind ja alte Hasen ; )
Also die Show war der Hammer, die Leute haben nach 8 Vorbands noch alles aus sich raus geholt und das bei ner Temperatur von bestimmt 60Grad und ner Luft zum Schneiden, es hat quasi im Raum geregnet…
Sing a Longs, Stagediving, Crowdsurfen, Wall of Death, Mosh, es war alles dabei was man sich wünscht…

TERIMA KASIH KUALA LUMPUR !!!

Die folgenden Fotos werden vielleicht nen Eindruck davon geben wie heiß es war und wie geil die Malayen waren…

Nach der Show gab´s erstmal Blitzlicht Dauerfeuer das es schon fast unangenehm war, aber man macht ja gern Fotos ; )
Als wir dann alle runtergekommen sind, kam die “heiß” ersehnte Dusche, ein weiteres Essen und das Feiern…
Das Essen hier ist einfach mal der Hammer, bis jetzt gab´s nur Köstlichkeiten auf den Teller…
Das Feiern haben wir dann in der Gypsy Bar gestartet, gute Bounce Musik in netter Gesellschaft…was man aber leider mal sagen muß ist, dass der Sex Tourismus hier im Lande auch sehr groß geschrieben wird, EKELHAFT!!!
Die alten geilen Säcke, die einer nach der Anderen hinterhersteigen…na ja, was will man machen…das ausgeblendet, konnte man den Abend gut genießen…um 3uhr war dann letzte Runde und dann gings auf dem Hotelzimmer weiter und ab da schwindet dann auch die Erinnerung……….

In approximately 4 hours the first show in Kuala Lumpur is beginning…

Today started quite relaxed, after a night that at least felt short. They said we would be picked up from the hotel at 10.30 am, to drive to the club for the soundcheck and all the other nice things that you do there. But punctuality isn’t that big over here. This meant, we had another 2 hours to chill,    unintentionally. What wasn’t all that bad, since we were invited by Ann (Promoter) to a get-together in a bar last night, where the booze was definitely flowing. The remaining evening is history……:-)

When it was about time, everything went pretty fast, with the build up and the check for the evening.

Afterwards, a quick freshening up at the hotel, having dinner and then back to the club again, because the show today would already start at 4 pm and we were scheduled for half past 6, despite 8 support bands. This also wasn’t the case.

Half past 6 moved to half past 8, but then, what are 2 hours for us?! Hahahahaha……

In spite of the good soundcheck something had to fail during the actual set, how should it be different, when it’s the kick off of the tour…the complete inear system failed and thus we had to play some songs on hit or miss, which worked quite well though, you know we’re old hands ; )

After all the show was brilliant, the people still gave everything after 8 support band, and this with a temperature of surely 60 degrees and a cutting air, it was virtually raining in the room.
Sing alongs, stagediving, crowdsurfing, wall of death, mosh, everything you wish for was included…

After the show we stumbled through an almost uncomfortable flurry of flashbulbs, but one likes to take photos ; )
When we all calmed down, we could enjoy our “hotly” longed for shower, another meal and the partying…
The food here is just about the limit, until now we only had delicious stuff on our plates…
We took off with the partying at the Gypsy Bar, good bounce music in a nice company…unfortunately, what needs to be said, is that the sex tourism here in this country also is big, DISGUSTING!!! These dirty old men, that are after one and another…but well, what can you do…this out of focus, the evening was very enjoyable…3 am meant last round and so we continued at our hotelroom, from there, memory is fading…….

Caliban ist angekommen… *UPDATED*

GERMAN VERSION

Day One - Kuala Lumpur

Selamat Pagi (guten morgen),

wir sind mittlerweile nach 11std flug und einigen Bieren in Kuala Lumpur angekommen und Sammeln uns jetzt erstmal im Hotel, dat mutt…der Flug war recht Angenehm, auch wenn das Entertainment Programm mal richtig für´n Arsch war…dafür war das Veggi Essen aber mal richtig geil!!!

CALIBAN ERLEBNISREISEN VOLUME X

es muß ja bei uns immer was schief laufen, ansonsten wären wir nicht Caliban…ich verschone euch aber mit dem Organisationskrams, der eh meist für den Arsch ist, keine Angst…Ansonsten fehlt aber schon mal die Reisetasche von Denis und Patrick wurde um sein Deo und Parfüm erleichtert…die Dame am KLM Schalter meinte nur: “i´m sorry…” Sonst gibts eigentlich noch nichts weiter zu meckern…na ja,abwarten ; )

Das Wetter wen´s Interessiert ist wie´n Hammer vor´m Kopf, aber nicht so schlimm wie vermutet…32Grad und ne rel. Luftfeuchtigkeit von bestimmt 80 Prozent…

Pläne für den Rest des Abends sind Nahrungsaufnahme und dann werden wir abgeholt von den bis jetzt super coolen Leuten hier und auf ne Party gehen…Remmi Demmi…

Day One - Kuala Lumpur

Selamat Pagi (good morning),

by now, after an 11 hour flight and several beers, we arrived in Kuala Lumpur and are trying to gather ourselves at the hotel first. The flight was quite pleasant, even though the entertainment program really sucked…the veggie food was therefor absolutely awesome!!!

CALIBAN EXPERIENCE TOURS X

Something always has to go wrong, or else we wouldn’t be Caliban…I will spare you all the organizational stuff though, that sucks most of the time anyway, so don’t worry…besides, Denis’ travelling bag went missing and Patrick’s deodorant and parfume was taken off, the lady at the KLM desk just claimed: “I’m sorry…”. Despite of that there is nothing else to nag about until now…well, let’s wait and see

In case anybody is interested, the weather is like a blow of a hammer on the head, but not as bad as you might assume…32 degrees and a relative humidity of 80 percent for sure.

The plans for the remaining evening are ingestion and then we will be picked up by the - until now - super cool people here and go to a party…

Auf nach Asien

Day Zero.

So meine Freunde,

heute ist´s so weit, Caliban macht sich auf den weg Asien in Schutt und Asche zu legen ; )

Ich werde euch im laufe der Tour an Höhen und Tiefen teilhaben lassen und vielleicht passiert ja auch mal was lustiges…pix werden natürlich auch dabei sein, wahrscheinlich von Denis im Suff, von mir Göbelnt oder auch mal von Patrick auf nem Elefanten, who knows…

also immer mal reinschauen, stalken ist erlaubt : )
