Well, there’s not much to say about Marseille, it has been one of the harder shows for us. We know that France isn’t the best market for us, but we won’t give up and return there every time again and again. That can’t be possible…hahahaha…..

Now there’s only Milano ahead of us before we’re having 2 offdays. Milano rocked nicely again. It was lots of fun as usual, but unfortunately, we didn’t have any good weather. This meant, that sightseeing definitely had its boundaries. Snow in Milano. Does anybody believe that?! Damn….really cold and uncomfortable. It’s about time to go to warmer areas.

In the night before the show we had another long journey coming up. Athens! Which meant, we had to go down at the very bottom to south Italy to take the ferry from there. We didn’t notice much of the ride, as everybody was sleeping. But it was nice, when we woke up. We were in Bari, a small, idyllic, old city in the very south of Italy. As we have been there during midday already, and our ferry would take off at 8 in the evening, we took the chance and enjoyed the nice and sunny weather (can you believe it) and went to the old town, sat in a small coffee and had something to drink and eat. It was a real vision. After that we went to the sea and walked through the small alleys until we had to get back to the bus at 6. On the way back we took a free shuttle that was going forth and back from the port and the old town.

Later we entered the ferry, moved to our cabins and went to the board restaurant to eat and later on, of course, we crashed the bar.

Arriving in Athens we had an offday and all we did was basically chilling and hanging around. On the next day some of us went to the Akropolis, until it was showtime again!!!

Athens was the bomb. More than 2000 people moshing like there was no tomorrow. Insane and thank you very much for that!

Thessaloniki: What can I say?! The show was comparable to Athens und therefore doesn’t need many words. The afternoon was quite nice and for me a bit sporty, as I coach potato grabbed my barbells and went jogging. That has to be sometimes. Else I’m having remorse.

Good morning, Sofia, we have waited so long to come by again and finally it worked out, only took us like 5 years ; )

But that waiting was worth it, as we were welcomed with warmth and full of enthusiasm…everything the day was awesome, maybe except the backstage, but that only is secundary…in return the catering was really good, the people rocked as hell and that after such a long time, a huge thank you again Sofia!!! Kreator haven’t been too lucky that day, as they had an electric blackout during the 3rd song and the stage was dark for a couple of minutes…but after the people fixed the problem, everything went on as usual for the Kreators…after the show we left for the bus pretty early, we have been quite tattered and therefore party and drinking wasn’t the cleverest…until later…

Bukarest - Becker Bräu, what can I say, the club was a mix of Hard Rock Café and Bavarian Corner with funny toasts on the wall…a weird stage with 5 meters with but 15 meters deep, strange…it has been the first time for us in Bukarest and we didn’t really know what to expect…after a while the people turned out to be pretty open for everything, you had to trigger them a bit and then everything ran smooth, therefore also here a huge thank you to all the people!!!

Day Off / Travel Day…

It could have been so nice, when everything would go as you think it would, but in the end, everything goes the other way…TOO BAD…the plan was to take a hotel on about half the way, hang around laziliy there and go online for once in a while and have a decent shower, but that never happened, because the “roads” have been totally fucked up, we took double of the time….therefore we spent ages in the bus, without drinks or food, it was like in hell…a stopover somewhere in Rumania was almost the highlight of the day, cuz in one caffee somewhere in the middle of nowhere we could wash. The caffee looked pretty strange, how you will see…whatever, you felt at least a little better, there was only the hunger and thirst…a few hours later, behind the border of Rumania we finally found a gaz station and a Lidl store, that we invated almost like in a war, starving and almost parched, what we really were, we jumped at everything that was eat- and drinkable…a massacre ; )

Back in the bus and happy about the food we were heading towards Croatia...at that particular time we still had a mass of kilometres ahead of us, but with a full belly it was only half as bad….when our bus drivers had to take their 10 hour break, we have been at a hotel with internet, a shower and a bar for those, who felt the urge to drink…all in all a shitty trip, but what doesn’t kill us only makes us stronger, right
Ok, that’s it for now…tomorrow we’re in Zagreb, let’s see what will be expecting us there…

DEUTSCH

Tja, viel zu Marseille gibt’s leider nicht zu sagen, da es eine der schwierigeren Shows für uns war. Wir  wissen das Frankreich nicht der beste Markt für uns ist, aber wir geben nicht auf und kehren immer wieder  dorthin zurück. Kann ja wohl nicht angehn……hahahahaha………

So, nur noch Mailand, bevor wir dann 2 offdays haben. Mailand hat mal wieder gut gerockt. Hat wie immer viel  spass gemacht, nur leider auch hier kein schönes Wetter. Dh, Sightseeing hält sich somit ganz schön in  Grenzen. Schnee in Mailand. Kann das einer glauben?! Mann……. Super kalt, ungemütlich. Wird Zeit das wir  in wärmere Gefilde fahren.

In der Nacht nach der Show gings dann auch wieder los auf ne lange Reise. Athen! Was bedeutete, wir mussten  ganz runter in den Süden Italiens, um dort dann mit der Fähre überzusetzen.
Von der Fahrt hat man nicht viel mitbekommen, da wir alle geschlafen haben. Aber schön war, als wir  aufwachten. Wir waren in Bari. Einem kleinen, idyllischen, alten Städtchen ganz im Süden Italiens. Da wir  schon mittags da waren und unsere Fähre erst um 20 Uhr ging, haben wir die Gunst der Stunde und das, ihr  glaubts nicht, schöne, sonnige Wetter ausgenutzt und sind in die Altstadt gegangen, haben dort in einem  kleinen Café gesessen und was gegessen und getrunken. War traumhaft schön. Danach sind wir noch ein bisschen  am Meer und durch die kleinen Gässchen spaziert, bis wir dann um 18 Uhr wieder zurück am Bus sein mussten.  Zurück haben wir dann ein kostenloses Shuttle genommen, was zwischen dem Port und der Altstadt hin- und  hergefahren ist.

Danach gings auf die Fähre, wir bezogen unsere Kabinen, gingen in dem Bordrestaurant was essen und sind  später, wie konnte es auch anders sein, schön an der Bar abgestürzt.

In Athen angekommen hatten wir dann nen offday und haben eigentlich den ganzen Tag nur gegammelt und  gechillt.
Am nächsten Tag sind dann einige von uns auf die Akropolis gegangen, bevor es dann wieder hiess: it´s  showtime!!!!

Athen war der Kracher. Über 2000 Leute die gemosht haben als gäbs kein Morgen. Wahnsinn und vielen Dank  dafür!

Thessaloniki: Was soll ich sagen?! Die Show war vergleichbar mit Athen und bedarf deswegen icht vieler  Worte. Der Nachmittag war recht schön und für mich ein wenig sportlich, da ich fauler Sack mich mal wieder  an meine Hanteln und ans Joggen gemacht habe. Muss ja auch mal sein. Sonst hab ich ein zu schlechtes  Gewissen.

Guten Morgen Sofia, lange haben wir darauf gewartet wieder mal vorbei zu schauen und endlich hat es  geklappt, hat ja auch nur knapp 5 Jahre gedauert ; )
Aber das warten hat sich auf jeden fall gelohnt, denn wir wurden herzlichst und voller tatendrang  empfangen…alles an dem Tag war Super,bis vielleicht der Backstage, aber ist dann auch sekundär…dafür war  das Catering richtig gut und die Leute haben gerockt wie Sau und das nach so langer Zeit, riesen Dankeschön  nochmals Sofia!!! Kreator hatten an dem Tag leider etwas Pech, da bei denen beim 3 Song der Strom  ausgefallen ist und die Bühne erstmal für ein paar Minuten aus war…aber nachdem die Leute das Problem in  den Griff bekommen haben,ging´s dann auch für die Kreatoren wie gewohnt ab…nach der Show gings recht früh  in den Bus, da man noch ein wenig angeschlagen war und da ist Feiern und Trinken nicht gerade das  schlauste…bis später…

Bukarest - Becker Bräu, was soll ich sagen, der Laden war ne Mischung aus Hard Rock Café und Bayrisches Eck  mit lustigen Trinkersprüchen an den Wänden…eine komische Bühne die ca5 Meter breit war, dafür aber 15  Meter tief, strange…es war das erste mal für uns in Bukarest und man wußte erstmal so gar nicht was  erwarten kann…es hat sich dann aber relativ schnell herrausgestellt das die Leute recht offen für alles  waren, man mußte Sie ein bißchen Antreiben und dann lief alles wie geschmiert, also auch hier ein riesen  Dankeschön an alle Leute!!!

Day Off / Travel Day…

Es hätte so schön werden können, wenn alles immer so laufen würde wie man denkt,aber dann kommt doch immer  wieder alles anders…SCHADE…der Plan war ca auf halben Weg n Hotel zu nehmen, dort schön faul abzuhängen,  mal wieder online zu gehen und dekadent zu Duschen, aber daraus wurd dann leider nichts, weil die “Strassen”  mal sowas von beschissen waren, dass man das doppelte an Zeit für alles gebraucht hat…somit haben wir  ewigkeiten im Bus verbracht, ohne Getränke oder Essen, es war die Hölle…ein zwischenstopp irgendwo in  Rumänien war dann noch fast das Highlight des Tages, denn an nem Café mitten im nirgendwo konnte man sich  endlich mal ein bißchen Waschen und Entleeren, wenn Ihr versteht was ich meine ; ) Das Café sah ziemlich  strange aus, wie Ihr sehen werdet…egal, man fühlte sich wenigstens ein wenig besser, blieb also nur noch  der Hunger und Durst…ein paar Stunden später, nach der Grenze von Rumänien haben wir dann endlich ne Tanke  und n Lidl gefunden, den wir dann fast wie im Krieg gestürmt haben, ausgehungert und halb verdurstet, was  wir wirklich waren, haben wir uns auf alles gestürtzt was ess und trinkbar war…ein gemetzel ; )

Zurück im Bus und glücklich über das Essen gings dann weiter Richtung Kroatien…zu dem Zeitpunkt hatten wir  noch ne Menge Km vor uns, aber mit vollem Magen war´s dann halb so schlimm…Als unsere Busfahrer dann Ihre  10std Pause machen mußten, waren wir auch endlich an nem Hotel wo´s Internet gab, ne Dusche und ne Bar für  die, die lust hatten sich einen zu Brennen…also alles in allem ein scheiß Trip, aber was uns nicht  umbringt, macht uns nur Stärker, richtig

So, das war´s dann auch erstmal wieder bis dahin…morgen steht Zagreb an, mal sehen was uns da so  erwartet…

Finally, they were changing our busses today! That directly put us into a good mood, well the „old“ bus wasn’t that bad, but spending 7 weeks in it would not exactly be like my dream of touring…

Unfortunately, the good mood was cushioned soon, as Richard’s (our Tour Manager) laptop was stolen from the production office, where he of course kept all the important facts and dates of this tour…I can tell you, he was pissed, REALLY pissed…as compensation the venue gave him a macbook for free…but still, all the facts are gone and he has to get them all together again, piece by piece.

Apart from that, the day was rather boring, as everyone of us was too lazy to go outside, this way we just sat on our asses backstage, but that just has to be sometimes ; ).

The show later in the evening was quite nice regarding french circumstances, which means we had to do alot of convincing….No shower, respectively just with ice cold water, therefore nobody really showed the will to try that

After the show we planted ourselves nicely into the new bus and continued having a good time…good night!

In Madrid we had the first beautiful day of the tour, sun and bearable temperature, where you could finally go outside and see the city…it did start to rain for a short while, but that’s not worth mentioning. After we have been visiting the city, Patrick and I went for a beer in the parc, as we didn’t have any soundcheck anyway, no time…the show in the evening was pretty awesome and the people enjoyed their time as far as I could see, special thanks to our devoted Spanish fans that are always there!!!

Showering later was definitely a blast, we had a shower room with a shower like from heaven…fresh and relaxed we were able to start with the party part of the evening and we had quite the booze…I have no idea which fluids flowed through my body, but in any case it was loud, funny and boozy….

Porto – what can I say?! Definitely one of the best shows we played on this tour so far. Porto rocked that much, we couldn’t really believe it, as we haven’t been to Portugal that often, yet, compared to Spain. The club was awesome, an old theatre. The people gave the best they could. Even some injuries caused in the moshpit couldn’t be prevented.

Unfortunately, we couldn’t see anything of the city itself, it was raining buckets. But that doesn’t seem to change at this tour, cuz in Bilbao, Barcelona and today in Marseille it wouldn’t stop raining either. It was nice tough, that Spain didn’t run out on us. The people just really got it going here. Neat!!!

Yeah, there’s not much to say about today. Let’s see, what the rest of the day holds in store for us…

Ficken Oi,

heute werden endlich die Busse gewechselt, was uns schon mal direkt gute Laune verschafft hat, denn auch wenn der “alte” Bus nicht scheiße war, 7 Wochen darin verbringen wären nicht meine Traumvorstellung vom Touren…

Leider wurde die gute Laune dann etwas gedämpft, da nämlich dem Richard (TM) sein Laptop aus dem Produktionsbüro geklaut wurde, wo natürlich alle wichtigen Daten und Termine dieser Tour drauf gespeichert waren…ich kann euch sagen, der liebe Richard hat gekotzt, aber RICHTIG…als Wiedergutmachung hat er dann vom Club n Macbook bekommen, natürlich für umme…trotz alledem sind natürlich immer noch alle Daten weg, die er sich jetzt nach und nach wieder beschaffen muß, Ficken Oi!!!!

Ansonsten war der Tag quasi wie gehabt und ehr langweilig, da wir alle zu faul waren mal raus zu gehen und uns die Ärsche nur im Backstage platt gesessen haben, aber das muß auch mal sein ; )

Die Show später am Abend war dann für französische Verhältnisse auch ganz geil, soll heißen das man einiges an Überzeugungsarbeit leisten mußte…Keine Dusche, bzw nur eiskaltes Wasser, da hatte niemand lust sich drunter zu stellen

Nach der Show hat man sich dann schön in den neuen Bus gepflanzt und hat noch ein bißchen gefeiert…Gut Nacht!

In Madrid war der erste schöne Tag auf der Tour,Sonne und erträgliche Temperaturen, bei denen man auch mal wieder in die Stadt gehen konnte…es hat zwar mal kurz angefangen zu regnen, aber das war nicht der Rede Wert…Nachdem wir in der Stadt waren sind Patrick und ich noch auf ein Bier in den Park gegangen, da wir eh keinen Soundcheck hatten, keine Zeit…Die Show am Abend war ziemlich geil und die Leute hatten soweit ich das sehen konnte auch Ihren Spaß, besonderen Dank auch an unsere treuen Fans, die immer in Spanien dabei sind!!!

Das Duschen später war der Knaller, da wir n Duschzimmer hatten mit ner himmlischen Dusche…Frisch und erholt von der Show konnten wir uns dann dem Party Teil des Abends widmen und Gas geben, was wir auch zu genüge gemacht haben an diesem Abend…ich hab keine Ahnung mehr was da alles durch meinen Körper geströmt ist…es war auf jeden Fall laut, lustig und feucht-fröhlich…

Porto – was soll ich sagen?! Definitiv eine der geilsten Shows auf der Tour bis jetzt. Porto hat so dermaßen gerockt, dass wir es kaum glauben konnten, da wir in Portugal noch nicht so oft waren wie zb in Spanien. Der Club war super, ein altes Theater. Leute haben vollgas gegeben. Sogar einige Blessuren waren leider im Moshpit nicht zu verhindern.

Von der Stadt konnten wir leider nix sehen, da es wie aus Eimern gegossen hat. Aber das scheint sich hier auf der Tour auch nicht zu ändern, denn in Bilbao, Barcelona und heute in Marseille pissts auch die ganze zeit.

Aber schön war, dass Spanien uns mal wieder nicht im Stich gelassen hat. Die Leute rocken hier einfach wie die Sau. Sehr geil!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ja, zu heute gibt’s nicht viel zu sagen. Mal sehen was der Tag noch so bringt………..

Hello!

Today is the first day of the tour, meaning: Pre-Production. Not really much to tell here, just that we had  the whole day to chill, whereas the crew had to work already. But luckily, Andy from our management came to  visit and had a crate of beer in tow. Therefore, cheers!  Originally, the plan was to stay the night at  Satis & Fi, but Richard arranged with the club in Tilburg that we could come the night before the show  already. Said, done! When we arrived in Tilburg, we had quite the booze. But as that wasn’t enough, Denis,  me and our mercher Flow were making a night of it. The night ended at daybreak, and we were pretty wasted.  Oh my, my head…….

Hey everybody, the first show (013 Tilburg) is done and it was quite acceptable for a first show, here and  there a few mishaps, but this was the same with the other bands…the people in Tilburg got it going and I  was actually quite surprised, thank you!

After the show we celebrated a little until we were heading to Amsterdam…until now everyone on tour has  been really cool and in good spirits…

Arriving this morning at the Melkweg in Amsterdam, Patricks Laptop fell to the ground, whereat he wasn’t too  pleased of course Luckily though, he has a very nice dad who is borrowing him his laptop for the tour,  hence the anger wasn’t that big in the end…

After the breakfast we went for a walk through Amsterdam’s streets, a very cool city, a bit too overflown  for my liking…

Back at the club we waited for the soundcheck but all for nothing, as we didn’t have any more time…despite  all that the show later in the evening went really well, the guys from the club really knew what they were  doing
and not only the crew was super, also the people in front of the stage, thanks a lot to you for your  support!!!

After the show we were partying and not too short, Patrick and me now appointed the saturday to our new  partyday, the Andrick day

Sometime everything went dark and when I woke up I found myself being in Belgium…

The day then started a bit harder than usual, but after a good and strong coffee and some food everything  slowly went up the hill again…

LONDON:
As always, our path leads to our friends in England. A pity though, we’re only here for one show. But we  will soon make up for that!!! Promised!!! The day in London was quite nice, as the KOKO is located in Camden  Town. Many cool shops with awesome stuff. We didn’t buy anything, though.

Besides that, the day was rather narrow. I have no idea, who planned the houses there. Horrible. Not only  you had to step up a thousand stairs to get to the backstage room, no, the walls have been that near  together, you were afraid to go through.

Whatever, I don’t want to moan. The show was awesome, but we didn’t expect anything else from London!

In the evening there was party as usual and then we were on the road for the next city…..

PARIS:
I like Paris. I spent a lot nice days here before and a few memories came up again. Therefore I didn’t miss  the chance to do a bit sightseeing with Marc. But see for yourself……

The show later was ok. The people have been a bit stiff, which we thought was very untypical, as the last  shows in Paris have been the bomb. But we couldn’t really concentrate on that, the localcrew had no clue at  all. We had heavy monitor problems, an electric blackout that paralyzed Marc and and and…not that nice.  Sure, we did make the best out of it, but it could’ve been better.

Tach!
So, heute erster Tag der Tour, was heisst: VORPRODUKTION. Gibt nich wirklich viel zu erzählen, nur das wir den ganzen Tag zum Abhängen hatten, wobei die Crew schon ran musste. Aber zum Glück kam Andy von unserem Management vorbei und hatte nen Kasten Bier im Schlepptau. Also, hoch die Tassen. Geplant war, dass wir an diesem Tag bei Satis & Fi stehen bleiben sollten, aber Richard unser Tourmanager hatte mit dem Club in Tilburg vereinbart, dass wir schon die Nacht vor der Show hin konnten. Gesagt, getan!
Als wir in Tilburg ankamen hatten wir schon gut die Lampen am brennen. Weil das aber nicht reicht, sind Denis, ich und unser Mercher Flow noch um die Häuser gezogen. Die Nacht endete dann so gegen Morgengrauen. Und ein Grauen wars wirklich. Gott, hatte ich nen Schädel……………..

Gude alle miteinander,
die erste Show (013 Tilburg) ist geschafft und sie war für ne erste Show akzeptabel, hier und da ein paar kleine Patzer, aber das war bei den anderen Bands nicht anders…die Leute in Tilburg waren aber gut dabei und ich war doch recht überrascht, Dank Euch!
Nach der Show haben wir noch ein bißchen gefeiert bis wir weiter Richtung  Amsterdam ha…Bis jetzt sind alle Leute auf der Tour echt Cool und guter Dinge…
Heut morgen angekommen am Melkweg in Amsterdam ist erstmal Patricks Rechner auf den Boden geknallt,worüber er natürlich nicht erfreut war ; ) Zum Glück hat er aber nen sehr netten Dad, der ihm seinen Laptop für die Tour borgt, also war die Wut dann nicht so groß…
Nach dem Frühstück ging´s dann mal in die Amsterdamer Gassen ein wenig die Beine vertreten, eine sehr coole Stadt, nur ein wenig zu überlaufen wie ich finde…
Zurück am Club haben wir auf den Soundcheck gewartet, nur leider vergebens, da wir keine Zeit mehr hatten…trotz alledem war die Show später am Abend sehr gut, die Leute vom Club haben Ihe Handwerk verstanden
und nicht nur die Crew war super, sondern auch die Leute vor der Bühne, vielen Dank auch an euch für euren Support!!!
Nach der Show haben wir dann gefeiert und zwar nicht zu knapp, Patrick und Ich haben jetzt den Samstag zum neuen Partytag für uns entdeckt, den Andrick Tag
Irgendwann wurds dunkel bei mir und aufgewacht bin ich dann in Belgien…
Der Tag hat dann erstmal etwas schwerer angefangen als sonst, aber nach nem guten starken Café und was Nahrung ging´s dann wieder langsam Bergauf…

LONDON:
Ja, wie auch sonst immer, führt auch diesmal der Weg zu unseren englischen Freunden. Schade nur, dass wir auf dieser Tour nur für eine Show nach England kommen. Das wird aber bald nachgeholt - ausgiebiger!!! Versprocheen!!! Der Tag in London war recht schön, da das KOKO direkt in Camden Town liegt. Viele coole Lädchen mit geilen Sachen. Gekauft wurde aber nix.
Sonst war der Tag eher eng. Ich weiss nicht wer da die Häuser geplant hat. Schlimm. Nicht nur das man tausend Stufen hoch laufen muss um in den Backstageraum zu gelangen, nein, die Wände sind auch noch so dicht zusammen, dass man schon Not hat durch zu kommen.
Egal, will nicht jammern. Die Show war super, aber das haben wir auch in London nicht anders erwartet!
Abends wurde wieder lecker gefeiert und wir waren wieder auf dem Weg zur nächsten City……..

PARIS:
Ich mag Paris. Habe hier schon schöne Tage verbracht und einige Erinnerungen kamen wieder hoch. So hab ichs mir auch nicht nehmen lassen mit Marc wieder ein bisschen Sightseeing zu machen. Aber seht selbst………

Die Show abends war ok. Ein bisschen steif die Leute, was wir aber sehr untypisch fanden, da die letzten Parisshows immer der Krachen waren. Aber darauf konnte man sich eh nicht wirklich konzentrieren, da die Localcrew ihren Job diesmal überhaupt nicht verstand. Wir hatten arge Monitorprobleme, nen Stromausfall der den Marc lahm legte und und und……Also nicht sooo schön. Klar, wir haben das Beste draus gemacht, aber es hätte  besser laufen können.

Hey, this is your beloved Patrick again.

It’s Wednesday evening the 21th of January, which means, our 7-week European Tour with Kreator, Eluveitie and Emergency Gate is starting tomorrow morning. We’re all totally looking forward to the tour, cuz as you might have noticed, we didn’t do too much when it comes to playing live. The record is finished and we can’t wait until we can hold the final product in our hands.

Tomorrow, we’re gonna be doing a pre-production show with the company Satis & Fly, where the crew can prepare for the upcoming shows and is simulating a live show. The lights are gonna be set and the equipment checked for its capability, so everything can go nice and smooth in Tilburg on Friday.

Therefore, prepare yourself for lots of funny and exciting tourblogs, and it wouldnt be for Caliban Experience Tours if I hadn’t a cool story for you already.

The bus that was gonna pick us up tomorrow had an engine breakdown today. Yeah, how awesome! Can a tour have a better start?! I dont think so! The bus company assured us though, that the bus will be fixed by the time we come to Paris, what’s gonna be in 5 days, and take us from there. Tomorrow, we will be getting another bus, that is supposed to be not much different than the original one. It’s 2m shorter and therefore the comfort won’t be the same as in the other bus. Now you have to keep in mind that we’re sharing the bus with Kreator and Crew and we’re gonna be 18 people in the bus. It’s not that tragic, but it’s not too cool either. We can only hope the bus will really be on the spot in Paris, cuz limited space for 7 weeks is really no walk in the parc. That way, every inch is a gain of space and comfort. We will see. But you will surely be informed here asap.

All remaining prearrangements have been made and completed, our guitartech spent last night until 4am in our rehearsal room to make all guitars, basses, wireless and inears sound perfect.
My set is ready to set off and all the backups parts are there. Today I received my new drumriser (be excited – BLOODY AWESOME), which was the last thing missing.

We also have a new stage setup. We hope you like it. We are very fond of it!
Additionally, we spent the last days to rehearse a few songs that we haven’t played live, yet, which also includes one or another new song. We can’t wait to see your reactions to the new songs. Hope you find them as cool as we do. That is supposed to give you a small taste of our new album coming in spring, of course, which is entitled „SAY HELLO TO TRAGEDY”.

We’re excited like a virgin on prom night and are looking forward to rock with you during the next weeks!!

For now that’s everything. I will enjoy the evening a little bit and lay up my feet.

So, hier meldet sich mal wieder Euer lieber Patrick.

Wir haben Mittwoch Abend den 21.01.09, was heisst, morgen früh geht’s los auf unsere 7wöchige Europatour mit Kreator, Eluveitie und Emergency Gate. Wir fiebern alle schon auf diese Tour, da wir ja, wie Ihr mitbekommen habt, 2008 recht wenig gemacht haben was das Live spielen anbetrifft.

Die Platte ist im Kasten und wir können es kaum erwarten das fertige Endprodukt die nächsten Wochen in den Händen zu halten.

Morgen wird in Werne erstmal bei der Firma Satis & Fy ein kleine Vorproduktion gemacht, wo die Crew sich auf die kommenden Shows einstellt und quasi eine Liveshow simuliert. Lichter werden programmiert und alle Geräte noch mal auf Tauglichkeit getestet, damit dann am Freitag in Tilburg alles so reibungslos wie möglich von statten gehen kann.

Also, macht Euch auf viele lustige und spannende Tourblogs gefasst und was wäre Caliban-Erlebnisreisen wenn ich nicht jetzt schon eine tolle Story für Euch auf Lager hätte.

Der Bus der uns morgen abholen sollte hatte heute einen Motorschaden! Yeah, wie geil! Kann ne Tour besser starten?! Ich denke nicht! Die Buscompany hat uns aber versichert, dass der Bus in Paris, was in 5 Tagen ist, wieder einsatzbereit ist und uns dort auch einsammelt. Morgen werden wir erstmal von nem anderen Bus abgeholt, der eigentlich nicht viel anders sein soll wie der eigentliche. Er ist 2m kürzer und auf Grund dessen hat er nicht den Comfort wie der Andere. Jetzt müsst Ihr bedenken das wir uns den Bus mit Kreator und Crew teilen und wir 18 Personen auf dem Bus sein werden. Ist alles nicht sooo tragisch, ist aber auch nicht cool. Können wir nur von Glück reden wenn der Bus auch wirklich in Paris am Start ist, denn auf engem Raum 7 Wochen ist kein Zuckerschlecken. So ist quasi jeder Zentimeter ein Gewinn an Raum und Wohlfühlen. Naja, werden wir mal sehen. Aber Ihr werdet sicher asap von uns unterrichtet.

Alle restlichen Vorbereitungen sind getroffen und abgeschlossen, so hat unser Gitarrentech die letzte Nacht bis 4 Uhr morgens in unserem Proberaum damit verbracht, alle Gitarren und Bässe, Wireless und InEars in Schuss zu bringen.

Mein Set ist startklar und alle Ersatzteile am Start. Heute habe ich noch meinen neuen Drumriser (Ihr könnt gespannt sein – SEHR GEIL) in Empfang genommen, was noch das letzte Ding war was fehlte.

Ein neues Bühnensetup ist ebenfalls vorhanden. Wir hoffen es gefällt Euch. Wir findens geil!

Noch dazu haben wir die letzten Tage auch damit verbracht ein paar Songs zu proben, die wir noch nicht Live gespielt haben, worunter natürlich auch der ein oder andere neue Song fällt. Wir könnens kaum erwarten Eure Reaktionen auf die neuen Songs zu sehen. Hoffe Ihr findet die ebenso cool wie wir. Das soll Euch natürlich schon mal einen kleinen Vorgeschmack auf unsere im Frühjahr kommendes Album, was den Titel trägt: „ SAY HELLO TO TRAGEDY“, geben.

Wir sind gespannt wie nen Flitzebogen und freuen uns tierisch drauf mit Euch die nächsten Wochen zu rocken!!!

So, fürs Erste solls das mal gewesen sein. Ich werde den Abend noch ein wenig geniessen und die Füsse hoch legen.

4 days are over now and we’re almost done, there are only 2 songs missing and I will take care of that tomorrow     unhurriedly. During the time in the studio you really notice how exhausting a bit screaming can be…I always preferred touring ; )
Yesterday, Patrick and Denis paid me a short visit to listen to what I got up to and I think none of them both had something to criticize, but maybe they lied, who knows ; )
Pictures will follow soon, too, even if they won’t be too exciting I guess, dear Marek wanted to cover that part, he actually was there too to shoot a few takes for Caliban TV, when that is ready, you may be able to get a little foretaste of the new record, so perk up your ears…

Besides that there is not much more to say, as the schedule is mostly the same all the time, you pick a song, warm up and start, if you’re unlucky you have to repeat a take 20 times, but luckily, that hasn’t happened to me, yet…in between there are short breaks to regain power and then it goes on again : )

This time, I tried to put in a few little new variations with my voice, I think they will have a great effect…

So, 4 Tage sind vergangen und wir haben so gut wie alles im Kasten, es fehlen noch 2 Songs und die werd ich dann ganz in ruhe morgen zum besten geben…

In der Zeit im Studio merkt man erst mal wieder richtig wie anstrengend doch so ein bißchen Rumbrüllen sein kann…ich hab Touren ja schon immer bevorzugt ; )

Ich hatte gestern kurzen Besuch von Patrick und Denis, die sich mal Anhören wollten was ich da so alles angestellt hab und ich glaube keiner von beiden hatte was dran auszusetzen, oder Sie haben gelogen, wer weiß ; )

Bilder werden wohl auch bald folgen, auch wenn sie bestimmt nicht spannend sein werden, das wollte der liebe Marek übernehmen, der nämlich auch kurz da war um ein paar Takes für Caliban TV zu schießen, wenn das kommt, werdet Ihr vielleicht noch nen kleinen Vorgeschmack auf die neue Platte erhaschen können, also Ohren gespitzt…

Ansonsten bleibt erst mal nicht viel zu Berichten, da der Ablauf quasi immer der selbe ist, man sucht sich nen Song aus, macht sich warm und legt dann los, wenn man Pech hat muß man n Take 20mal Singen, aber zum Glück ist das bei mir noch nicht vorgekommen…zwischendurch ist dann immer mal wieder kurz Pause um neue Kraft zu Schöpfen und dann geht’s weiter : )

Ich habe diesmal versucht noch ein paar kleine neue Variationen mit meiner Stimme hinzubekommen, ich denke das das eine gute Wirkung haben wird…

Also denn, das war´s dann auch schon wieder von meiner Seite, aber ich werd Morgen wenn alles im Kasten ist noch mal ein Abschiedsbrief an euch Schreiben

In a good mood and packed with enthusiasm I woke up today morning, but the first glance out of the window was a takeback, snow everywhere you could look…if the trains would ride? But everything went well and I arrived just in time at 2pm in the studio…

First off, we started with filling me in to what has been done until now, cuz in my absence Denis recorded a few very nice vocals, you can look forward to it ; ) Later on I picked the first song and warmed up for it…when we began everything went pretty well, but you will hopefully hear that soon

So, the first day is done and I think we did some pretty neat work, 3 songs are in the can and it will hopefully be the same with the remaining songs…
We did began quite late with the recording, but we will make up for that tomorrow and start earlier. How do you say, the early bird catches the worm ; )

I can’t show you any pictures yet, cuz we didn’t get around to do some, respectively there was no one there to take them, but that will change tomorrow, or Wednesday the latest, then you’ll get something for the eye…

guter Laune und voller Tatendrang, bin ich Heut morgen erwacht, doch der erste Blick aus dem Fenster hat mir erstmal nen Dämpfer verpasst, Schnee so weit das Auge reichte…ob die Bahnen wohl fahren? Aber alles ging gut und ich bin Pünktlich um 14Uhr im Studio angekommen…

Angefangen haben wir dann erstmal damit mich auf den letzten Stand der Dinge zu bringen, denn in meiner Abwesenheit sind noch ein paar sehr nette Gesänge vom Denis entstanden, man darf gespannt sein ; ) Danach hab ich mir dann den ersten Song ausgesucht und mich auf ihm warm gemacht…
Als wir dann losgelegt haben lief alles ziemlich gut, aber das werdet ihr ja dann auch hoffentlich bald hören

So, der erste Tag ist geschafft und ich glaube wir haben ganz gute Arbeit geleistet, 3 Songs sind im Kasten und der Rest wird dann hoffentlich genau so reibungslos laufen…
Haben relativ spät angefangen mit den Aufnahmen, das werden wir aber Morgen wieder gut machen und früher loslegen. Wie heißt es noch gleich, der frühe Vogel fängt den Wurm ; )

Kann euch leider noch keine Fotos zeigen, weil wir noch nicht dazu gekommen sind welche zu machen, bzw. war keiner da um welche zu machen, das wird sich aber morgen, spätestens aber Mittwoch ändern, dann gibt’s auch was für´s Auge…

Hey my people, happy new year to everyone!!!

Tomorrow is the day, the screaming is about to start…we already worked ahead perfectly and recorded all songs beforehand during the pre-production and now I really feel like kicking off!!!

You can be excited for a bunch of aggressive and angry vocals, sometimes I’m even afraid of myself ; )

Denis will give his best this time again, you can be excited for that as well…

All in all we’re completing each other very nicely this time I’d say, but don’t worry, the album won’t be softer than the predecessor, we rather put even more on it!!!

Alright, I’m gonna get going now to Gruiten (where Benny’s Studio is), so I’m just in time when we’ll be starting tomorrow ; )

After the first takes, respectively after finishing the first songs I’ll be bugging you with news again…

Tach meine Lieben und n gutes Neues Jahr für alle!!!

Morgen ist es soweit, das Gebrülle geht los…haben schon sehr gut vorgearbeitet und alle Songs vorweck bei der Vorproduktion einmal eingesungen und ich hab richtig Bock jetzt richtig loszulegen!!!

Man kann gespannt sein auf ne Menge aggresiever und wütender Vocals, manchmal erschreck ich mich selbst vor mir ; )

Denis wird diesmal auch wieder sein bestes geben, man kann auch dort gespannt sein…

Alles in allem werden wir uns diesmal sehr gut ergänzen würd ich sagen, aber keine Angst, die Platte wird nicht softer als der Vorgänger, wir haben eher noch ne Schüppe draufgelegt!!!

Also dann, ich mach mich gleich schon auf den Weg nach Gruiten zum Benny ins Studio, damit ich Morgen auch Pünktlich da bin ; )

Nach den ersten Takes, bzw nach vollendung der ersten Songs werd ich euch wieder mit Neuigkeiten belästigen…

Aaaallright, now it’s my turn

From today I’m in Sky’s studio.

At first we set up 2 different basic-sounds for the rhythm guitars. This took us quite a while of course, after that we were soo tired, that we had to order some food….yummy Indian

Following that we tried two different guitars, to see which one fits the best. In the end we decided for 2 different ones, the dropped A songs will be recorded with the 7-string LTD Stephen Carpenter and for a few other songs we will use my new ESP HORRIZON III. Finally, we were ready to record and we finished all rhythm guitars of the first two songs today.

We will continue tomorrow afternoon, and I guess that I will manage to do another 3 to 4 songs…

Soooo jetzt bin ich dran

Ab heute bin ich beim Sky im Studio. Als erstes haben wir 2 verschiedene Grundsounds eingestellt, für die Rhytmusgitarren. Das hat natürlich dann erstmal ne Weile gedauert, danach waren wir schon soo erschöpft, dass wir erstmal was zu Essen bestellt haben…..lecker indisch

Als nächstes haben wir dann verschiedene Gitarren ausprobiert, um zu gucken, welche am besten passt. Entschieden haben wir uns dann für 2 verschiedene, die dropped A Songs werden mit der 7-saitigen LTD Stephen Carpenter eingespielt und ein paar andere Songs mit meiner neuen ESP HORRIZON III. Dann haben wir endlich angefangen aufzunehmen und von den ersten 2 Songs sind dann alle Rhytmusgitarren auch schon fertig geworden heute, morgen Nachmittag geht’s weiter und ich denke, dass ich dann so 3 bis 4 Songs schaffen werde…

Day 4!

It was awful. The first day being really well and easy, I had a few dropouts today and would’ve liked best to smash everything in my rage.

I wasted time with things, that usually go very easy off my hands and partly I acted so stupid, that Tony and Benny sometimes also lost all faith in me. Hahahahahaha………but luckily we’re all pros and they always had some nice and reconstructive words for me. Additionally, we started very early already, as Tony had other responsibilities at 7 pm. Thanks, Dolly!!!

And drumming Heavy Metal before noon, that’s NOT working for an old man like me!!!

But luckily I can call myself a pro, too, and I did it in the end.

4 further songs were recorded and everyone was satisfied and happy of course, the recordingday being over without bigger injuries and dead people. Nobody was allowed in the recording room while I was throwing sticks and bad words  through the room like a madman.

But when I finally heard the words “Alright, we’re done for today” through my headphones, smiles sneaked onto everyone’s faces and we just yelled: “WE’RE HUNGRY!!!!!!!”

Said, done. When our visit, Resa from our management and Paras from Butterfly Coma came, we headed towards “Ottitotti” (how the natives here call their village “Ottmarsbocholt”) to have some good plain food. Not only the delicious onion soup, also the following grill plate tasted absolutely fantastic and was just about right after such a stressful day. With it I got dry white wine from the Mosel, to my ashonishment it was served in 0,1 L glases. Therefore I asked the nice waitress if she’s kidding me. She should take that away again please and bring a wineglas suiting my size. Hahahahaa….unbelievable! But actually, I was only thinking about her, so she would’nt have to come back every 2 minutes, to pour me some more.

The evening continued really nice and relaxing. Just a few more shots at the bar, nice talks and then back to the Wii playing with a booze on the screen.

When Resa and Paras were on their way home again, Benny and I watched Ace Ventura to let the evening end. Cuz for tomorrow, Benny thought of something special.

10.30 am: start of recording. YOU ASSHOLE!!!!!!!

Yes, we reached the final recordingday for the drums.

I threw a nice “Thank you for that early getting up, you moron” into the room of my neighbour, when the alarm clock ringed at 9.30 am. Then I went showering.

But seriously! What a shower can do - and if it’s just for 10 minutes. Cuz just like the tiredness, my body odor came back after the shortest time, when I played the 5th round of “24 years”. Why? Listen to the song and you’ll know what I’m talking about.

But however. This one was finished, too, and therefore I managed the hardest part for today. Yet, there were only 2 more calm tracks and the cover version to be done.

Yes, after the day being great again and the calmer songs being in the can, we had to wait for Marc and Marco for the cover version, as we haven’t rehearsed it together, yet. It was a pretty short-term idea to put a classic on the CD as well.

We’re curious to know what you’ll be thinking about it. We’re pretty heated up to do it.

When Marc, Marco and Denis finally arrived, with delay because of a traffic Jam on the A43, we were ready to start recording the song live. And who would’ve thought. It worked and the song turned out pretty neat.

Tag 4!
Es war furchtbar.  Nachdem der erste Tag wirklich wie geschnitten Brot verlief, hatte ich heute einige „Aussetzer“ und hätte am liebsten vor Wut alles zerschlagen.
Ich habe mich mit Sachen aufgehalten, die sonst einfach von der Hand laufen und hab mich streckenweise so doof angestellt, dass auch Tony und Benny manchmal den Glauben an mich verloren haben. Hahahahahaha……….aber zum Glück sind das ja Profis und haben für mich immer wieder nette, aufbauende Worte gehabt. Noch dazu haben wir sehr früh angefangen, da Tony um 19 Uhr noch andere Verpflichtungen hatte. Danke, Dolly!!!
Und vor Mittag schon Heavy Metal Trommeln und dank Doublebass Km schruppen, ist für so nen altern Herren wie mich NIX!!!
Aber zum Glück bin ja auch ich Profi genug und habs letztendlich geschissen gekriegt.
Weitere 4 Nummern waren somit aufgenommen und alle waren zufrieden und natürlich auch froh, dass der Aufnahmetag ohne grössere Verletzungen und Tote zu Ende ging. Es hätte nämlich keiner im Aufnahmeraum sein dürfen, während ich wutentbrannt die Stöcke und böse Worte durch den raum geworfen habe.
Aber als ich dann letztlich auf meinem Kopfhörer die Worte: „So, das hätten wir dann für heute“ – gehört habe, ging bei uns allen ein Lächeln ins Gesicht und wir schrien nur noch: „HUNGER“!!!!!!

Gesagt, getan. Als unser Besuch, Resa von unserem Management und Paras von Butterfly Coma kam, sind wir dann auch schön hier nach Ottibotti (wie die einheimischen hier liebevoll ihr Dörfchen Ottmarsbocholt nennen) gut bürgerlich essen gegangen. Nicht nur ne leckere Ziebelsuppe, sondern auch anschliessend die Grillpfanne haben fantastisch geschmeckt und waren genau das Richtige für so einen stressigen Tag. Dabei gabs trockenen Weisswein von der Mosel, der zu meinem Erstaunen in 0,1 L Gläsern serviert wurde. Da hab ich die nette Bedienung mal gefragt ob sich mich verarschen will. Sie sollte doch bitte den Fingerhut wieder mitnehmen und mir meiner Grösse entsprechend auch ein Weinglas bringen. Hahahahaa……….unglaublich!!!! Aber eigentlich hab ich ja nur an sie gedacht, damit sie nicht alle 2 Minuten laufen muss, um mir nachzuschenken.

Der Abend war dann auch noch wirklich schön und entspannend. Noch ein paar kurze an der Theke, nette Gespräche und dann anschliessend schön angedonnert wieder Wii auf der Leinwand zocken.

Als Resa und Paras dann wieder auf dem Heimweg waren, haben Benny und ich dann noch Ace Ventura geguckt, um den Abend damit dann ausklingen zu lassen. Denn für morgen hatte sich Benny was ganz besonderes ausgedacht.
10.30 Uhr Recordingbeginn. Du ARSCH!!!!!!!!!!

Ja, und da sind wir auch schon am finalen Recordingtag für die Drums angekommen.
Ich hab heute morgen, als der Wecker um 9.30 Uhr klingelte, erstmal ein nettes „Vielen Dank fürs frühe Aufstehen, du Sack“ in mein Nachbarzimmer geworfen, bevor ich mich unter die Dusche gemacht habe.
Aber mal ehrlich! Was die alles bewirkt – wenn’s auch nur für 10 Minuten ist. Denn wie die Müdigkeit, so setzte auch mein Körpergeruch nach kürzester Zeit wieder ein, als ich die 5. Runde „24 Years“ spielte. Wieso? Hört den Song und Ihr wisst wovon ich rede.

Aber egal. Der war dann auch geschafft und somit hatte ich mir das härteste Brett für heute weggehämmert. Jetzt standen noch 2 ruhigere Nummern und die Coverversion offen.

Ja, nachdem der Tag heute wieder super lief und die 2 langsameren Songs dann im Kasten waren, mussten wir auf Marc und Marco für die Coverversion warten, da wir die noch nie zusammen geprobt hatten. War ne recht kurzfristige Idee noch nen Klassiker draufzupacken.
Mal gespannt was Ihr dann davon halten werdet. Wir sind recht geil drauf den zu machen. J

Als Marc, Marco und Denis dann endlich kamen, mit Verspätung wegen Stau auf der A43, konnten wir dann endlich loslegen den Song live einzuspielen. Und wer hätte es gedacht. Es hat geklappt und der Songs ist recht fett geworden.

Aber nicht nur die Jungs waren da, sondern auch Benny von Neaera besuchte uns. Neaera releasen nämlich bald eine DVD wo sie auch Kommentare von anderen Bands mit drauf packen. Und so mussten Marco und ich dafür herhalten. War super lustig, da wir so noch mal alle geilen und lustigen Dinge revué passieren lassen konnten, die wir mit den Jungs die letzten Jahre gemeinsam erlebt hatten. Denn zusammen getourt sind wir ja wirklich recht viel.

Ach ja. Eben haben wir von BastiBasti den Covervorschlag fürs neue Album bekommen. Leute, ich kann nur sagen: FETTE SCHEISSE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Und essen mussten wir ja auch was. Wir konnten uns nur nicht zwischen den 2 Pizzalieferservices entscheiden. Könntet Ihr uns weiterhelfen?!! J

Da ich heute quasi meinen letzten Tag im Studio hatte, bin ich jetzt wieder zu Hause und tippe die letzten Zeilen hier in meinem Bett. Ich hab auf jeden Fall ein super Gefühl was das Album betrifft und kanns kaum abwarten es fertig in meinen Händen zu halten.

In den nächsten Tagen werden nun die Gitarren, Bass, Keys, Vocals und all der restliche Kram aufgenommen. Ich bin mir sicher, dass Ihr auch von dort täglich informiert werdet, was nun los ist und wie weit wir sind.

Ich bin dann erstmal raus, wünsch Euch ne gute Nacht und freu mich, wenn Ihr uns weiter treu bleibt und den Studioblog verfolgt.

The first recording day is over and 5 tracks are in the can. 8 to go!

I think I was in such a good mood today, due to the fact that we were allowed to play a really nice concert in Hameln yesterday. This was the best preparation for the day today. Thanks to everybody who rocked that awesome with us yesterday! Also thanks to the whole crew of the “Sumpfblume” who took great care of us. It was really nice at your place!

That was also the last club show in 2008, before we’re heading on tour with Kreator from mid january all across Europe’s stages, and rehearse the new album earlier.

You probably noticed the new album title today. “SAY HELLO TO TRAGEDY.” What do you think about it? Shout out!!

However, back to the recording. It really went well today, so that I managed to make Tony and especially Benny happy.

There is nothing more to say about today actually, as except 11 hours of drumming there is not exactly a lot
happening.

As we rest upon that today, we will find our way to the amazing chillroom again and watch some DVDs or just totally contaminated play the Wii. Hahahahaha…I will make it to a console maniac here. You have to know, I never had something like a Playstation or a X-Box. I just can’t do anything with it. But here it’s really real fun. But that also might be because of the intoxicating resources we’re consuming here.

So, der erste Recordingtag ist geschafft und 5 Stücke sind im Kasten. 8 to go!

Ich glaube ich war heute so gut drauf, da wir gestern ein richtig schönes Konzert in Hameln spielen durften. War also die beste Vorbereitung für den heutigen Tag. Danke Euch allen, die mit uns gestern so geil gerockt haben. Auch danke an die ganze Crew der Sumpfblume, die sich so rührend um uns gekümmert haben. Es war sehr schön bei Euch!

Es war ja die letzte Clubshow für 2008, bevor wir jetzt Mitte Januar mit Kreator die europäischen Bühnen rocken und natürlich vorher das Album einhauen.

Ihr habt heute sicher wie ich den Albumtitel vernommen. „SAY HELLO TO TRAGEDY“. Und, was haltet Ihr davon?! Lasst mal hören!!!

Naja, mal wieder zurück zu den Aufnahmen. Es lief heute wirklich gut, so dass ich Tony und vor allem Benny glücklich machen konnte.

Mehr gibt es eigentlich zum heutigen Tag nicht zu sagen, da außer 11 Stunden trommeln nicht viel passiert ist.

Da wir es für heute dann damit auch beruhen lassen, werden wir uns jetzt wieder in den tollen Chillraum begeben und noch was an DVD´s gucken oder einfach nur wieder völlig verstrahlt Wii zocken. Hahahahaha……..ich werde noch hier zum Konsolenfreak. Ihr müsst nämlich wissen, ich hatte noch nie so was wie ne Playstation oder X-Box. Kann ich einfach nix mit anfangen.
